Did they bolted the barn door wing?

So the old spec car is faster than the new and apparently improved car...merc has really come undone now.

Maybe Rus was just faster?

They did say that the damaged floor was going to be an issue. Plus, Lewis has struggled in qualifying all year.

Ultimately, nothing happened there that revealed anything new. Fourth fastest car…lonely race tomorrow unless there is chaos

Lewis was pretty pissed towards the end there, seemed like once again his car's behaviour changed for...no reason. Also tried riding the kerb and car nearly spun

No real surprise. If PIA/Perez performed, it’s a P7/8. Not good, with either package.

Oh I forgot that kimi damaged the floor on Lewis's car...no replacement and a botched up repair...according to toto it would lose him 0.2 per lap...explains a lot. But whatever...merc are in no man's land...will end up where they started...

Toto's reaction said it all, throw the car in the bin. I expect them to be in no mans land tomorrow.
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”

It could be. I forgot about the damage

in FP2 maybe, but there's no way he's still running with a damaged floor that costs him 0.2s a lap.

Toto said they cant replace the floor so they will just repair it but it wont be good as the new floor, how much performance that cost him, if any, i guess we'll see when they do their interviews or post race debrief. i dont think the floor itself is what really cost him there, he was on radio complaining about the car not feeling like it did in FP3 then that clip of him trying to ride the kerb and the car nearly spinning

Lewis -
“The car felt good in FP3 and then qualifying… I didn’t change anything and then qualifying just completely turned on its head. Definitely frustrating but that’s every qualifying session that I’ve had this year.”

“There’s no way we’re going to be [going from 6th to 2nd like last year] this weekend with the car that we have, I don’t think. Maybe George is more comfortable in the older package, we’ll see. We’ll get a good reading of which is best for the future.”

Sigh yeah the car felt good in FP3 blah blah. Its the same broken record. Whatever there doing (or not doing) they can't get the car in the window and on Lewis's side its been the case all season. At this moment in time after the season he has had in qualy, you have to point the finger to him. He can't drive this car the way he can and if he can't adapt to Ferrari's traits then its closed curtains. His driving style is not working with the W15. Fk knows what his engineers are doing but there probably tired with Lewis's demands in general.

Edit. Russell has the Miami spec floor , missed alot of running and still got the job done. Its not good enough. It really isn't

Yeah, Q3 has been Lewis’ weakness this season. We’ll need to wait until interlagos to have a clear picture on these updates when both cars run them and are in 1 piece. Merc should have brought the update package to Mexico instead of Austin to avoid the sprint shenanigans…oh well.

Lewis missed fp1, got one lap on this weekend's mediums in fp2 and couldnt change the setup the entire session. But yea i think its a combination of him, driving style not working with this car and how peaky their car is
