Mercedes allowing George with a broken front wing to ruin the tires and overheat the car of Hamilton in a pointless battle perfectly sums up the totally dysfunctional state of this team in every facet.

Another 40+ s gap in a shortened race behind McLaren and Ferrari. Absolutely shameful, Toto and his posse need to go asap
Beat Red Bull handily today, and if it wasn't for the front wing damage that gap would have been at least half as Russell was closing on Norris with a gap of 6 seconds after 27 laps.
Why would anyone ignore that, I mean aside from the obvious axe to grind.

What's with your strange vendetta against Toto? Surely you would want him to stay considering the job he's done in the last 3 years.

They weren't catching Norris.

Let em race.

You simply don't know how the race could have evolved. There could have been a VSC. There could have been a safetycar (and now they are going to have to do a tight double stack). Hamilton could have lost the car in the esses in the dirty air with this diabolical floor.

If Russell didn't have a damaged front wing, by all means let them race, but as it was, it looks more like a circus at Mercedes than a serious operation that is concerned with maximizing performance.

Brazil was absolutely brutal last year so im not sure where we go from here. Worrying times for merc.
Yea, another sprint weekend so they could get the setup completely wrong but, and its me being hopeful, if they dont, it could be a very good weekend for them. Forecast currently is that its going to be a rainy weekend, Lewis has been very good in all the wet qualis this season, the Merc likes cold temps and Mclaren and Merc switch their tires on the best in the wet

A circus that finished 4th and 5th?
Where you expecting a podium?
Why ignore what happened and impose hypotheticals that didn't happen to ridicule the team? Very odd.

I can not help but think both teams and both drivers would be better off if Merc arranged a swap with Carlos and Kini next year. One year in a Williams would benefit Kimi and a year in Merc for Carlos would be good for both of them, the cars are going to be very close next year and experience will count

I'm not ignoring what happened. What happened is the point. Russell had a damaged front wing and lacked pace. Hamilton was wasting his tires and overheating his engine and brakes to fight him for multiple laps. This was unnecessary. Let the healthy car go.

Agreed. Then when Oscar is lured away to Red Bull after Max leaves for Aston, McLaren can get Carlos back as he makes way to Kimi..!! 😝
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

The circus show known as Merc, beat a Mclaren and two Red Bulls while 1 car having a broken front flap and the other car with the updated floor that was fixed using paper mache. Very good Circus indeed!

It was pretty stupid indeed. They threw away the possibility to fight for third so they could secure fourth and fifth.

Even more stupid when one car is literally broken and the other car is clearly much, much faster.

But like I've said so many times, Merc do not care about anything except George looking like the stronger driver as Lewis departs the team. I'd say Lewis' speed on the straights are testament to that.

Also, Lewis said in that interview above that he expects the team to revert to the old floor as he could see after following George exactly where their car works and where it doesn't. He didn't say it directly, but he basically said he expects changes and cited himself also running the old floor as one possible type of change.

I dont think thats at all what hes saying but rather now that they have a full GP's worth of info on both floors they'll decide if there is a big enough performance increase with the new floor to warrant running it

Jheeze the races just keep coming thick and fast now. I think this is the last track where they will be genuinely competitive with other cars. If the weather conditions come into play then yeah hopefully they can maximise the result. With the information they have on the two configs they need to be clinical on the decision to run a certain spec. Hopefully with a high downforce wing and none of this medium rear wing malarkey. Lewis's interview was a great insight to what he's feeling in the car and saw from behind GR, I did have a feeling he had too much of a inbalance in that first stint and knew he would sort it out in the pitstop phase. Then his pace came alive. George before his front wing damage was pretty solid to. Its a shame not to see where he would of been without it.

I do feel George pace isn't to far off Lewis's this year imo he's definitely been working on that front.

Im still not convinced this car works that well in the slow speed stuff. I dont have the data but im curious to see how the car compares to the top 3 in certain sectors.
