Will they be able to fight at least for one podium in remaining races?
I don't see it happening unfortunately. Las Vegas may be the best chance because of colder conditions as Luscion mentioned but the sequence of corners on this track are not good for the mercs characteristics. I can't lean on previous years results because this year car's philosophy is different aswell. The race pace of this car is bang average but i think redbull will be our nearest challengers that weekend.
Brazil, well if its low temps with some rain anything is possible and the car seems to work well in those conditions but that was all before these upgrades/updates failed after Silverstone. God knows how competitive it will be with the new spec in wet conditions. We do have some good wet weather drivers so Russell and Hamilton will show some brilliance if the car is there.
“And that’s part of the game, is being able to be adaptive, and we’ve got this new car – I don’t know how it’s going to handle, hopefully she’s great.”
