2024 Titles

Post

So, Who's thinking who's getting which title then?

Ill start, no bias, but I think Max will get the WDC. 58 points to beat him which is 11points per race (excluding the sprints) which is a big overhaul to overcome. Ive said a loss of 10 points per race to Lando for Max will be a good place to be. Max has more wins on count back so 57 points equal finish Max would take it.

WCC, getting tight, Battle now getting tight between McLaren and Ferrari. Going to be interesting til the rest of the season. Ferrari seem to have picked up the pace, and Mexico has 2 Ferrari's at the front and unfortunately a McLaren at the back, so could be another decent points gain for Ferrari there.

I'm going to say 50/50 on the WCC and Max to get the WDC by about 30points.

With Max taking engine grid penalty next race and a possible DNF in Mexico or Vegas, I wouldn't be confident with Max taking WDC.
The cheapest sort of pride is national pride, every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud adopts, as a last resource, pride in the nation to which he belongs; thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.

What are you basing that penalty on?
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

My prediction:

WDC: Max with Lando closing it to a single digit gap

WCC: McLaren with again single digit margin over Ferrari

Max said this weekend there will likely be another engine penalty for him this season. They lost a completely fresh ICE at Canadian GP causing the need for this extra engine.

We can only assume it will be at Brazil as our of the circuits remaining it's not a bad place to take it

WDC: Max by ~15 pts, but Lando will be mathematically able to win it going into Abu Dhabi around 22pts behind.

WCC: Very close between Ferrari and McLaren, The gap is probably going to be in the single digits. My heart is saying Ferrari but my brain is saying McLaren.

I trust my heart.

My brain says Ferrari. Leclerc and Sainz have pulled clear of Norris and Piastri as a duo. Piastri has seemingly forgotten how to drive for 2-3 races now.

I'm a massive Ferrari fan so I kind of agree that they hold the advantage for these last 4 races. I expect them to close up some more. I'm just concerned that Brazil and Vegas won't be great tracks for them. 29 points isn't a whole lot in WCC terms if they can score another 1-2 or 1-3, but a 1-2 from McLaren would have the opposite effect.

I trust my heart though, so I believe Ferrari will win.

Ever since he was told he'll play second fiddle after Baku... Funny how that turned out, I don't think Webber's past experience had absolutely anything to do with it. Nothing at all...

For me the WDC is a done deal, it was a done deal a good few races ago, the media well do their damnedest to try and persuade us it's not and I suspect the FIA/stewards will also try to keep it alive for as long as they can with their meddling too. Mathematically it is of course very much still on and anything can happen, but I really don't see both Norris winning the races he needs and Max aiding him by finishing in the lower points position.

The WCC on the other hand is definitely still on, though I think being realistic it's still very much in McLaren's hands.
Ferrari have made a solid leap over the past few races, they have just had two excellent weekends pretty much maximizing the points they could have collected which has put them within touching distance.

On paper I still think McLaren have the edge with the car but it's not a big edge, that and it's F1, things happen so the WCC is still on for me but McLaren very much still in the driving seat for now...

WDC seems like a done deal. Sure, anything can happen, but Max is 47 points ahead with 4 races and 2 sprints to go. Lando would have to win every race, both sprints AND get fastest lap and Ver not scoring higher than 3rd in any of the remaining races/sprints for Lando to win. It just seems unrealistic.

As far as the WCC, I would love to see Ferrari win it, I am not very confident in that. It'll be close though. Ferrari could be strong in Vegas and Abu Dhabi, McLaren should be strong in Brasil and Qatar. If it's in single digits in Abu Dhabi, I can see Ferrari taking it. But if McLaren pull away in the next two races... it's over.

Agreed. I think the only way Lando has a hope of WDC is if he wins a race Max fails to score in.

The problem with the McLaren car is that it's always slower in the first stint so lots of eventualitues can bog them down. It's not dominant enough to just sail past other cars and disappear into the sunset.

after sprint quali in sao paolo i think it will be tough for max (unfortunately).mcl is super fast and i hope ferrari can beat them and win the constructors as well. max's hopes is great performance by ferrari's but we know he is a super driver and he can fight until the end in the worse car :P
