Ah, right, so Perez goes past then?
They need at least two green flag laps for points to be awarded, no more Spa-21 like situation. But sure they will make this happen.venkyhere wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 14:42Even if it's worse than yesterday's Q, the race will happen, even if for two laps, behind a safety car ; and then whatever is the applicable fraction of the points will be awarded to the drivers who wont be allowed to overtake behind the safety car anyway.
Behind the scenes, F1 will ensure race control rules it this way, because that will ensure Verstappen scores 0 and Norris eats further into the lead. They are, ultimately, like 2021, going for 'entertainment'. Fundamentally 'it's a business', the money needs to keep coming in.
It's hard to swallow, but it's the truth.
Mate, It seems I could see and recognize Mclaren have far better car a lot earlier than most at this forum. In the summer I said they won't be wining on pace anymore. But I also saw the same in 2021, where he shouldn't have won any races post Silverstone, so much faster mercedes was after upgrades. But he still won somehow, not just few races but also the championship.Vettel165 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 14:33You will see that after 3-4 more weeks I was right. The gap after today could be around 20 points with 3 races to go. And Mclaren has a dominant car, for Red Bull even a podium is hard to get. Max has no chance, its hard to say this as his big fan. I should just move on, at least I can be happy with amazing last 3 seasons he has had.
The race today will go ahead, because the forecast got better with less rain as expected.
Well everyone will move up because of albon out.
So, I think given by Max only got 5 place penalty, that will put him P17 after the qualifying order. Then you move everyone. I think. Not sure.
42) THE GRID FOR THE SPRINT OR THE RACE
42.1 The grid for the race will be formed in accordance with the results of the qualifying session
described in Article 39.2, the classification process defined in Article 39.4 and the procedure
defined in Article 42.3. Any penalties received for the race will be added up and be applied using
the procedure defined in Article 42.3.
42.2 The grid for the sprint session, if scheduled, will be formed in accordance with the results of the
sprint qualifying session described in Article 39.3, the classification process defined in Article
39.4 and the procedure defined in Article 42.3. Any penalties received for the sprint session will
be added up and be applied using the procedure defined in Article 42.3.
42.3 Starting from a nominally empty grid, drivers will be allocated their grid positions in the following
sequence of steps:
a) Classified drivers who have received 15 or less cumulative grid penalties will be allocated
a temporary grid position equal to their qualifying session or sprint qualifying session
classification plus the sum of their grid penalties. If two or more drivers share a temporary
grid position, their relative order will be determined in accordance with their qualifying
session or sprint qualifying session classification, with the slowest driver keeping their
allocated temporary grid position, and the other drivers getting temporary grid positions
immediately ahead of them.
b) Following the allocation of temporary grid positions to penalised drivers in accordance
with (a), unpenalised classified drivers will be allocated any unoccupied grid position, in
the sequence of their qualifying session or sprint qualifying session classification.
c) Following the allocation of grid positions to unpenalised classified drivers, penalised
drivers with a temporary grid position, as defined in (a), will be moved up to fill any
unoccupied grid position.
d) Classified drivers who have accrued more than 15 cumulative grid position penalties, or
who have been penalised to start at the back of the grid, will start behind any other
classified driver. Their relative position will be determined in accordance with their
qualifying session or sprint qualifying session classification.
Nobody moves, they’ve said the grid boxes will be empty so essentially means everyone keeps the same position unless you start from the pits. Good for max as will have some free spaces to take. I’m not sure how it’ll work if they do a rolling start however
Agree this is why for weeks I have been saying if Max wins it would be his best title ever. On other side if it doesnt happen, at least we can say he gave its absolute maximum to fight for it with the third best car in the second part of the season. I think its 70-30% now with chances being better for Lando.stewie325 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 15:01With a better driver, McLaren would have wrapped up the drivers WDC a long time ago.
It's a shocker that Red Bull are still somewhat in it, but won't be surprising if they lose both championships by a landslide.
The rumours of the FIA removing something in the RB20's suspension around Miami are surely the only explanation for such a dip in performance... I can't remember a bigger downfall mid-season ever - maybe apart from Ferrari's fuel flow trickery being nerfed.
Leclerc set a lap time 4-5 seconds after Stroll had crashed that put Verstappen 11th. At that point you had the best part of 1 minute 35 seconds on the clock, with a fast lap being in the 1.25's. So there would be very little chance that Verstappen wouldve been able to complete an outlap and make the chequered flag before its fallen, with how slow people go out of the pits on their outlaps. And McLaren could just send out Norris and Piastri in the fastlane straight away and block Verstappen from doing anything.

Just my opinion. Of course hoping I am wrong.Spoutnik wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 15:11What are you talking about ?Vettel165 wrote: ↑03 Nov 2024, 15:04Agree this is why for weeks I have been saying if Max wins it would be his best title ever.
