That was more on Russell for being a better driver than the others today. He is very capable in these conditions. He mugged Norris on the 1st lap, withstood the pressure from a faster car for half of the race, then got Norris again on the restart. He didn't put a foot wrong all day unlike others.

Meanwhile, the silver circus tried to ruin Russell's race with the illegal tire pressure adjustments and the early pit stop. At least they didn't give him the other car's tires this time...

With logic like this it's easy to apply all sorts of fallacies and fantasies to kick the team.
Good results = Driver.
Poor results = Silver circus.

George has actually been very impressive this season, in quali and the races. He had the mechanical in Silverstone where the car was quick and Lewis won, then he gets the DQ in Spa where he finished first. Then another bit of bad luck in Mexico. All in all there's probably been a good 50 point swing in favour of Lewis due to things outside his control but somehow he has managed to claw it all back and more. The team is in good hands from a driving perspective, they just need to deliver a car that can do the job.

Unfortunately, the problem is your last sentence. The team has no understanding of this GE regulation, and have proven to be unable to deliver a championship winning car.

Also, you conveniently left out the huge chunks of good luck that Russell has received, with the inherited win in Austria, and inherited podium in Baku.

They've steadily improved since 2022, they could find something yet.

Others making bad decisions is not luck if you put yourself in a position to take advantage. Drivers will always tangle, everyone behind benefits. It could've been Lewis who picked up that win and podium if he put his car in a better position. However, getting a technical DNF and a DQ at the two best tracks of the year for your car, where you finished first in one and probably on the podium in the other, that is proper bad luck affecting only one car and nothing to do with driving.

We must be watching a different sport. They’ve gone backwards. Delusional to think otherwise.

Points in 2022 - 515, points in 2024 - 382 with 2 sprints more and 1 race less. Numbers are indisputable really...
And they call it a stall. A STALL!

The car has at times this year looked genuinely good. It's just that McLaren and Ferrari have taken huge steps in race pace whereas Merc and RB have taken smaller steps. The car has way less fundamental problems than it did in 2022 and 2023. If they just unlock a bit more performance and optimise it more for the races they will be competitive.

Comparing 2023 to 2024.

McLaren 593 vs 284. +309 points (+3 positions higher)
Ferrari 557 vs 388. +200 points (+2)
Red Bull 544 vs 822. -278 points (-2)
Mercedes 382 vs 392. -10 points (-2)

Need to consider the context, before comparing raw data by itself.

2022 :
- McLaren absent from competitive positions,
- Ferrari roughly on par with Mercedes after the early TD change to lift floor edges/floors
- midfielder teams were way far off the leading pack.

2024 :
- all of the above helping situations absent

just as an asterisk, Belgium made the difference here. had russel not been dqd it wouldve been the more successful car.
