I do not think it is about the passport. I think it is about Honda, Honda has screwed Yuki by leaving RB. There is now no incentive for RB to let Yuki take that second seat.Bill wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 09:19yuki has wrong passport if they is such thing.he led a race last year in Abu dhabi on merit after outqualifying many drivers on the top teams ,so the point is yuki has done many impressive things he shouldn't be in the position to prove himself. With Alonso having many health issues and stroll looking lost maybe he will follow Honda to Aston.
Spain's Carlos Sainz Jr would be a proven "smooth operator"!SirBastianVettel wrote: ↑05 Nov 2024, 21:15They tried with Gasly, Albon and Perez. What would be a serious driver at this point? Lawson? I doubt he’d do much better than those three. Same for Yuki imo. Colapinto? Just too much of an unknown/risk I think. I honestly don’t know what I’d do if I was in Red Bull’s position.
That seems unfair, Sainz Jr is far above the level of the likes of Bottas or Perez. Sainz has proven it by beating Norris and Leclerc on points over a season -- not to say that this means Sainz is at the level of Norris or Lecelrc, but Sainz is clearly very good (on average).SirBastianVettel wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024, 14:03if he's only capable of winning when the #1 driver in the team is having an off day, then why care if he gets a seat in a top team?
Monaco's Charles Leclerc had the very same car and didn't even finish 2nd in the Mexican GP!
Why? What does he know that we do not?MV: Yeah, well, I mean, of course, that was important. I wanted to, of course, win a bit sooner. But yeah, it's been tough for us. We always kept pushing. We didn't really understand why the others were so fast in the race, especially. Yeah, I've been trying a lot of things to improve the car. And I mean, starting P17 this morning, didn't look like we were going to win the race again. So yeah, it's an incredible result for us. A massive boost for the team, because honestly, it's been tough. But it is also a big strength of the team to stay calm and just try to work on performance and try to improve our situation. And I'm confident. I'm confident for the last three races that we can fight again, and especially in the race that we will be more competitive.
Sainz can't drive an over steer car, we saw it in 2022. Jr struggled until he had Mattia change direction of development that suited his style.
What a ridiculous statement. Sainz is not one of the absolute best drivers on the grid but he's certainly above average. If the choices are Sainz or Perez, unless the team doesn't give a crap about the WCC, they should pick Sainz. There's a reason he has almost double Perez's points. And while Sainz can be crash prone, he's no more crash prone than Perez is lol!
Well hopefully it pans out whatever it isAR3-GP wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024, 23:53https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/arti ... tCYCYFo3mBWhy? Mexico was one horrible demonstration of how bad the car is. They must have done something in the setup for Brazil, to make it understeer a bit less (proof that understeer was still present = T4 and T12 in the dry SQ and dry sprint) that made the car 'competitive' in the dry sprint on M tyres.AR3-GP wrote: ↑06 Nov 2024, 23:53https://www.formula1.com/en/latest/arti ... tCYCYFo3mBWhy? You forget. Money make companies take decisions different. The wcc is about money, but if there somehow come more from having a specific driver... Then it makes sense why he is kept on.ScuderiaLeo wrote:What a ridiculous statement. Sainz is not one of the absolute best drivers on the grid but he's certainly above average. IMO Red Bull might have been worried about Sainz not being a team player. There is no way Sainz would roll over and be Verstappen's guard dog. If he has a chance for a win, he will go for it, even at the cost of Verstappen's race. Maybe this isn't the mentality Red Bull wanted.
Perez didn't get a "new" chassis. He was given a previously used one for Brazil.Ashwinv16 wrote: ↑07 Nov 2024, 03:45It's now all but confirmed that Since Perez for the first time will be running the exact same parts Like for like Since Imola (Mainly due to the crash in Monaco (where he still qualified out in Q1 when he had the exact car as Max, but Max struggled to make it as well). Although the teams mentioned many times the difference is not that big (which Perez himself proved with the car he had in Baku). This could be Perez final chance to show if he can drive well. The replaced chassis has already proved to make a huge difference to Perez's Race Pace wise. But this is really his final chance. If Perez can't find pace in Las Vegas. He is 50% out at 2025, 50% cause Lawson is proving to be not that much better than Tsunoda and the 2026 cars will Suit the Understeery driving style that Perez Excels at.
