It's a much warmer day today than yesterday. Quite noticeably and also much windier than yesterday. Today the wind is gusting against the flow of main straight. The DRS and slipstream will be crucial, so being able to put power down early and making the pass late so that no counter slipstream can be taken.
I am watching next to the marshal stand on Harmon in front of the kink at the end of sector 3 and it looks like current conditions will mean a slightly warmer night. The teams that have mastery of the hard tyre will likely eek ahead but a safety car or red flag is not out of the picture.
What does the 'vibe' feel like at this race?
It doesn't give me anything at all on the emotional responsometer* and the footage looks like this is reallt poor for viewing and seeing a car out and performing.
Maybe I am a Luddite and perhaps this is the new school way it is going to be. Maybe! It just looks dead behind the eyes.
I hope you get some good support races too - and that you have a great time
Thanks for the weather updates too - the high speed headwind might make some interesting overtaking options possible.
*it's a real thing**
** it's not.
It's pretty calm outside of the venue, but that's because no traffic is able to come through unless you're getting dropped off at Top Golf.
I'm in the building with all the F1 experience personnel and avoiding the crowd. I won't be in the venue where the visitors are. I had an opportunity to be in the main grandstands but already did in Austin so my nephew gets to go instead. Last time in Austin was great, I actually like the vibe there more as it is a proper circuit. Here feels like there is a race happening in the middle of Vegas but it doesn't feel packed. In fact a lot of people checked into the hotel today.
Cosmopolitan had a store with F1 clothes geared for ladies. Lando's helmet was on display there in a glass case. Most of the hotels have F1 pop up stores and some have 30% off gear, though lots of overpriced stuff too.
The local driving school for supercars and karts has an Alfa Romeo F1 car on display. It's not really too crazy, but I am going to head to down to the circuit soon.
