Let's face it guys. Formula 1 is an extremely demanding sport that requires razor sharp conditioning of body and mind. A 26 year old should have the advantage over a 40 year old, whose faculties have been degrading since 34 years old... (says cience!).
After that, it's just how much an athlete can slow the degradation. I guess we are at that "cross-over point" where a once "elite" driver like Lewis is going downhill as another quick driver like George passes him on the way up (to becoming elite). Of course a Lewis degraded by 15% to 20% of his peak is going to be somewhat easy pickings for top qualifier like George! It's nothing to be a shamed about.
Would be interesting to see how an 80% of peak Lewis compares against Charles Leclerc next year. Yes. 80% is my estimate. It is what I feel. You are free to disagree.
