Sad times but for me he should retire, if he gets a hammering next season which he almost certainly will, it's only going to have a negative effect on his legacy, I don't want him to and up with the reputation of Vettel but it's looking like it's going to end up that way.
The legacies of Vettel and Schumacher were not tarnished by how their careers ended. That is only in the imaginations of their uncredible detractors. The same will apply for Hamilton.

I'm so impressed with George. He's absolutely killing it, especially in qualifying. We're in great hands for next year.

One thing I’ve never liked about Lewis is his tendency to get overly down when things aren't going well. Every time something goes wrong, he seems to sink into this "Depressed Nelly" mode, and honestly, it’s tough to watch. I’m not saying he should be cheerful when things go badly, but it wouldn’t hurt if he tried to find something positive in those moments.

Bracken has created an account this week, just to bash Hamilton, and to try and bait. Not sure the name of his previous account, but he couldn’t have made it more obvious, as he’s plastered his anti Ham crap all over the Merc & race thread. Mods need to have a look.

It’s embarrassing and I would block him.

Not sure where to put this, but Lewis talking about his love of space...mods feel free to relocate it if there's a better place for it.

I'm guessing there's quite a few people on here who, like me, also have an interest in space flight.
If I come across as blunt, I apologise, it's my ASD. Sometimes, like an F1 car aqua-planing, it gets out of my control.

Get a grip of yourself and grow up, he's bashing himself with these performances and has just said so himself that he is not fast anymore, are you the village snitch!?

Schumacher escaped it because of his age and his dire situation, I don't think Vettel has. Many people now call him a car merchant.

2023 WDC:
Ham - P3
Rus - P8

2024 WDC:
RUS - P6
Ham - P7

Now, I don't really know about anyone else, but given its still mathematically possible for Geurge to only finish 1 WDC position higher than he did the previous year (if Lewis does miracles), while Lewis has dropped from contesting for P2 down to a realistic P7...

Is it really the case that George has improved so much since last year or is it that Lewis dropped off?

If anyone is honest with themselves, could they truly say that the biggest change has been George's driving ability and not Lewis' dramatic qualifying slump?

If Lewis performed the way he had just one year ago in 2024, would George's performance this year have anyone talking about how ready he is to lead the team?

Is George only really just starting to edge Lewis out points wise in Lewis' worst ever season in F1 when he's being phased out of the team actually that big an achievement?

I think if you're really honest about it, I don't think you could say that it really is.

If Lewis had one or two better qualis, George would only move up one WDC place this year and the teams prospects politically/sponsor wise/optics wise would be looking dim.

Whatever the reason, Lewis has dropped off massively relative to Russell, either way Lewis just doesn't "have it" anymore.

Lewis performed similarly both years. George just stepped up big time.

I guess you could say that, but that also plays into the point I'm making.

Is George only moving up two WDC places instead of one in what is being hailed as his best ever F1 season, solely because his team mate suddenly can't drive a car in quali this year, actually a reflection of growth from his side?

Everyone agrees Lewis isn't performing, but no-one is really talking about how down in the dumps the entire team and especially George would be if Lewis had even slightly better results per race weekend.

Yeah, I think Lewis' 2023 is slightly overrated because of such a poor season littered with mistakes from Russell. As I said, Russell is the only driver that Lewis as faced where I get the feeling that he's superior, it's not a nice feeling to face as a fan but it happens to most at some point.

Sounds like the one who needs to grow up is yourself as you seemingly have plenty of free time available to create multiple accounts bashing someone who couldn't care less about you.

You can be realistic about Hamilton's performance without doing any of that. Reported and hope you get banned again

P3 to P7 is "similar performance", and P8 to P6 is a "big time" perfor.ance jump?

You see, this is what I'm trying to get at. The cognitive dissonance is wild.

It either flips from Lewis being a dud to George being on his A-game based on which sounds best for George at the time.

If you call Lewis washed, that means George's P6 this year is diminished.

If you say George is just having bis best ever season this year, you have to deny the huge performance slump Lewis has had since 2023, because closely defeating someone who most people expect to do better doesn't sound good either.

Multiple accounts? You are talking rubbish. Don't bash me because I'm stating the obvious, grow up.

It doesn't really matter, what matters is the net result, and this season Russell has comprehensively outperformed Lewis in every metric. We will get a better gauge on things next season when Russell is partnered with a rapid youngster in Kimi.
