Good Q2 for Leclerc. Sainz having some trouble with balance in medium speed.

Red Bull out of nowhere.
It seems like the current RB20 is solid in qualifying but bad in the race?

Their pace was dreadful earlier but they seem to be on top of things right now. Might also be track conditions changing.
Max said he had monstrous oversteer in the sprint. Seems to be fixed. The car still works at high speed.

Ferrari are losing so much time in S2...

They're also leaving the garage last. Going to be cutting it pretty close.

At least with the odd start, Charles did well, better that expected, very close to the McLarens, but Carlos is meh.

Very disappointed by Sainz. Usually these are his conditions to shine.

Leclerc put in multiple essentially perfect laps today but he was nowhere near pole. What's funny is he cleaned up all the turns he was having issues with yesterday, it just didn't matter.

The last run was horribly planned. They shouldn't have waited so long to go out. Both drivers suffered because of it.

I'm disappointed, but I guess between P5 and P7 is where we knew they'd be so it's not that bad. The main positive I can see here is both drivers are on the odd side of the grid, which should be much cleaner than the even side.

How do the Ferraris keep ending up with cold tyres in Q3? I don’t get it. The tyres hold on for several laps so a second prep lap shouldn’t be a problem, right?

Onviously this is very much a laymans take on things and they probably have their reasons, but I still don’t get how it keeps happening week in, week out.

The prep lap is absolutely crucial with these (garbage) tyres. You have to put them in the correct window without extracting life (therefore grip) out of them.

Probably the way with the mechanical and aero platform work in combination with the brakes makes it very difficult for the driver to achieve what they want. Leclerc has been suffering from this issue more than Sainz this season (despite performing better on average).

Vegas is a great example. Leclerc was absolutely nowhere in S1 and was one of the slowest driver on track !

That’s just how the car is. You are asking them to be absolutely perfect each second, while other cars can have duels and get have traffic blockages in their out laps and still end up with huge laps…

The car is what it is.

Both of the drivers did well today, neither of them made huge errors. Ultimately, they were fighting a car which is currently not well balanced and the track conditions are working against them. I imagine it's a lot easier for us to be disappointed than it is for them to execute the lap.

Regarding the tire warm up... considering it's been months of this issue, they either 1. don't know how to fix it, or 2. don't know how to fix it without sacrificing pace. They aren't going to fix it between now and AD.

I miss celebrating Leclerc's poles, but I don't miss going into every weekend knowing the car has no race pace.

Unrelated, Sainz got noted for an unsafe release and is off to the stewards. Will probably be a team fine.
