This might qualify as a low-effort post, but that is absolutely hillarious from the stewards.

A one place grid penalty? Someone should post the full onboard from George. So silly.

Smells more like them taking the piss. I joke a bit about Herbert in the Discord, and while i do believe that he's somewhat biased, and also incompetent as a steward (especially his idea that it's okay for a stewards/referees to comment on a driver/player in any sport like he does), there's 4 stewards in total, usually from different countries. Also I'm not sure who's on the panel this weekend.

Hanlon's Razor applies here: Don't attribute to malice, that which can be adequately explained by incompetence.

Also, we have yet to see the decision document. Perhaps they put emphasis on something we didn't consider.

This sets a ridiculous precedent. Anyone in an outlap can now go full beans up to an opponent, brake hard into him, moan on the radio and the other one gets a penalty.

Imho it is up to the car behind to find a safe way past others if they are not on a fast lap. Engineers are keeping their eye on cars on fast laps to inform their drivers to make room, not others on out, in, or slow laps.

Here is the reasoning.

So weird, Russell was pushing on his outlap in a blind section, and they create this 1 spot penalty for it.

Yes the new strategy will be to launch full speed in the middle of an outlap and claim your opponent has driven unnecessarily slowly.

This is an embarrassing precedent. One they'll doubtless never follow through with in future

It literally says within the document that because car 63 had full visibility of car 01 it essentially wasn't dangerous. But they still give a grid penalty? Baffling

The FIA:

Did you spend an hour watching quali to see the grid order? Nevermind that, we've changed it for you several hours after the session ended. How did we do it? By penalising something we've never penalised before with a penalty that didn't exist before today.

Clownish.

What an absolute farce of a penalty. Could be absolutely crucial for tomorrow. A driver who didn’t earn the pole is gifted the pole and potentially a race win, for an incident without a sporting impact. Takes F1 and FIA to do something like this. Unseen in any other sport.

How many times did we see 5-6 cars bunching up before the last corner at 10km/h, waiting to start their lap. While a driver on hot lap comes and have to take 3 avoiding action while getting through and that is business as usual.

And this one was both of them being on an outlap, lol.
