Ham thinks constant understeer in his car caused the tire to fail and not the mirror debris
It could be both I think. I mean together.Luscion wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:10Ham thinks constant understeer in his car caused the tire to fail and not the mirror debris

Yea, i could see that being a possibilityPaa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:20It could be both I think. I mean together.Luscion wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:10Ham thinks constant understeer in his car caused the tire to fail and not the mirror debris

The mirror exploded violently so I think the whole area was covered with tiny glass an carbon fiber pieces. I'm pretty sure that almost all drivers got some of that with most of their tyres. It makes sense that the most worn tyre is the most vulnerable.
Maybe a brand new tyre with thick thread would just absorb the debris, like it does with gravel etc. But thread was too thin for that on the front lefts so they gave up.
So high wear and debris could have been both a contributing factor.
F1 mirrors are made from Perspex, a type of Synthethic polymer, not glass.Luscion wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:31Yea, i could see that being a possibilityPaa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:20It could be both I think. I mean together.Luscion wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 01:10

I don't think we should look for any logic in stewarding after what has been done in recent weeks (months, years).
The rules states the stewards can apply additional penalties if they suspect the driver was doing it to gain an advantage. Doesnt seem to be any mention about going too fast being a safety issue, which is surprising, or giving penalty points
Agree - and why I don't like Stellas idea of them trying to make too many different rules for different situatioins to where they can make almost any penalty they want and justify it.Paa wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 02:39I don't think we should look for any logic in stewarding after what has been done in recent weeks (months, years).
Probably they just felt like it.
And I'm not even kidding/trolling. I genuinely think this is the most accurate description of how most decision are made.
Honestly he's lucky that people seem to have been distracted by everything else going on, but this was another race that Norris should have won imo. He had two (or three?) good opportunities to take the lead of the race and if he would have taken the lead I'm sure he would have comfortably won it.AR3-GP wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:34https://www.autosport.com/f1/news/norri ... /10678425/Confirming he would not seek to appeal the penalty, which he said was "correct" despite its draconian nature, Norris said: "Disappointed of course.
"I've let the team down, the team gave me a great car today, easily the quickest out there, and I f***ed it up.
Just another day, Norris not winning in the fastest car, and Max winning without it...
Yes. But what is also interesting on this: He definitely got under the skin of Russel. See the post race interview, Russel was more preparing on bumping wheels in the first corner than his start.Sevach wrote: ↑02 Dec 2024, 00:50Even while he was bumping wheels with Hamilton(and more recently Lando) Max never took things this personal.McLarenHonda wrote: ↑01 Dec 2024, 21:48Pretty interesting! But Max is right…Russell plays it polite in front of the cameras and then will try to screw you over at the first chance! This is pretty much what he has been doing with Lewis inside Mercedes these past 3 years too…
Right or wrong, he 100% believes what Russell did was a cheap manipulative trick.
