Edd & Mark also mentioned that there was "a certain hint of slight frustration" behind Fallows' words about the inherited Merc 2024 suspension, this is admittedly way too much speculation but perhaps it wasn't the exact thing he wanted
There was in some of his language a certain hint of slight frustration, not massively but you just feel that maybe they thought there was a bit more they could do.

Fallows was not an idiot. You have to wonder how much was actually his fault with this wrong suspension and the 2023 front wing/nose flex ban that they aren't enforcing anymore
Maybe he's just been moved away to be brought back in at a new position. Maybe Cardile and Newey believe in him, give him guidance and put him back in the same position.

It is interesting that the technical leadership decided to move him away from the TD job. They're not telling us everything.

We are done with this horrible AMR 24, lets move on.
Even before the AMR 23 was launched, there were rumors about the excellent WT number, do we have anything on AMR 25.
As we know the F1 is small circle and people talk to each other, any positive news will be exciting and will make 2025 year very interesting.
The Austin update, which was the foundation for the 2025 car, should give a good indication of what to expect next year.

An AMuS source posted on the Mercedes thread indicates they may change the rear suspension for next year. It always makes me wonder how "in advance" they inform AM of these changes.
If Merc are making a major change to their rear suspension, it's been done and working in the WT with the rest of the car for months. If it hasn't, it would have to be a minor change that isn't gonna impact aero. Like the 2024 rear suspension changes allowed them to adjust the shape of the diffuser. That was a major change. Maybe they're just changing the rear suspension geometry.

I hope you are right. It feels odd that a designer working successfully at a winning team for 17 years is being made the fall guy, and quite likely for something out of his control.

It wasnt my intention to say that he was blameless and his leadership has been good because clearly it hasn't. Just that Astons issues do not end with a single person which is what some fans think. In my opinion the entire organisation is still lacking in many aspects, not only in the factory as pitstops for Alonso in Abu Dhabi were frankly garbage

sure sure ... we know you have blind faith for Fallows :P

We just know that Newey know's him well from RBR. He wasn´t one of the guys that Newey got rid of....If he is worth it and Fallows agrees, Newey will find a spot for him.

The last 2023 update, they tried to apply he 2024 changes to it but the 2024 monocoque required changes from the 2023 to get it to the 2024. So what they brought in the end was a compromised upgrade. Might be the same for 2025, they're might have been stuff that they couldn´t apply to the 2024 monocoque simply cause they couldn´t bolt them on.

I strongly guess a (future) technical managing partner approved the Fallows decision…

Like with Whitmarsh, paddock sources say Fallows and Newey don’t get along well with each other.

Whitmarsh was gone before Fallows was removed from TD.

Like I said, Newey knows him well. If he's worth it, he'll find a place for him.

Presume you're in the "he's not coming back" court?

Just read my post. I repeated the rumours that Newey is neither a friend of Whitmarsh nor Fallows and both are out now.

In the case of Whitmarsh this could also be a coincidence, as he is 66 and simply retirering (and there was a orderly handover to Cowell - at least it seems so).

But in the case of Fallows, AMR would be crazy not to consult Newey before moving him away, without his approval.

Newey said that he is a friend of the "traditional structure" with the 3 departments (aero, design/engineering and perfomance), like at RBR. So it wouldn't wonder me if Cardile will be "his Wache", who oversees the 3 departments, with himself being the creative freethinker.

Dan would probably have been a great leader of the aerodynamics department (like at Red Bull). But would he have accepted the demotion from TD? And there's also the question of the budget cap, after the last few big signings he may have fallen outside of the top 3 exemption. So I can see why you could argue it wasn't worth keeping him.

Whitmarsh was always planning on leaving when the Silverstone site was done. That was the main reason he was brought in. That and he fostered in the Honda partnership. Cowell was announced on July 1st before Newey and it was over 3 months that tge had been looking for a replacement for Whitmarsh. Before Newey was evennknown to be on the Market. He's not leaving cause of Newey.

Just cause 2 people aren't friendly, doesn't mean you cannot recognize the talent in the other person. They've worked together for over a decade, now it's no longer possible?

I am not the one saying they have problems with each other, that are paddock rumours. Unfortunately I don't know these blokes personally...

But what I know, watching this sport for 30+ years, when your team publicly says your exit is "perfomance based" (https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/perf ... /10674785/), the door is CLOSED. At least for the short and mid term future (noone knows what happens in 5 or 10 years).

Mike Krack said in a press conference that the decision to move Fallows from his position was based on performances

“ if the performance is not there, there is change”

https://www.gpblog.com/en/news/315759/w ... krack.html

They also say Cardile will be the new CTO, taking some of Fallows responsibilities. Could be the real reason why they changed his position.

It's a significant slap in face to Fallows. So even though I said it's possible he could be back, I don't think it's probable. You wouldn't do that to a guy you were gonna bring back.... I really thought that they would wait for Cardile and or Newey to arrive to move/let him go.They saw something they didn't like.

In retrospective, I think Fallows was fired during the Imola weekend by Lawrence. That was the weekend Lawrence started shopping for Cardile and Newey. It was the weekend that a big argument was heard between Fallows and Lawrence.
