Max is only 27 years old and he will be RBR no. 1 driver for as long as RBR can keep him.
And I think RBR is not actively seeking to find a driver to replace Max at the moment, but a reliable 2nd driver to compliment and support Max and RBR to win races and championship.

Lawson is only 22, he still has got a bright future ahead so it may not be a good thing to play 2nd fiddle at such a young age because over time he and F1 fans will get use to him finishing 2nd, just like Bottas in Merc.

Perez's entire downward spiral started at least as far as I am concerned at Miami last year after that defeat. Sure it may happen to others but if the next driver thinks he'll just walk in and beat Max, it would not likely end well. Or maybe he will keep Max honest and that's still great for the team.

In the end, either you are cut out for a top seat or you are not. Maybe neither of them are. We will know next year.

I am pretty sure Nico Rosberg said something along those lines racing again Lewis. So much natural talent when you find a little weakness/somewhere where you are better than him then he goes to work to fix that weakness in his driving. Something you worked so hard at doing at it seems like its so effortless for him to fix the weakness takes a big mental tole.

I have mixed feeling, was OK in 2023, but in 2024 Tsunoda was better.

I think TSU would have been a better choice for us fans. Now LAW just need to prove that he is correct and can be closer than PER.

Not entirely sure what Lawson has done to earn this tbh ( in terms of his F1 performances).

Sure, his one off race last year was good, his debut this year was good. But his 5 races from Mexico and Abu Dhabi are nothing to shout about- in fact if that was Ricciardo people would have called for him to retire.

Yuki earned it IMO by out battling Ricciardo but for whatever reason (Honda?) RBR don’t like him. Guess he isn’t really part of the Red Bull driver programme?

The truth is, not handling the Sainz - VER thing all those years ago has cost Red Bull a stellar lineup.

The only guy we know can be strong at Red Bull and next to Max is Ricciardo - I still think he’d have raised his game back in the big team and would have been an ideal one year deal with option whilst they continue to evaluate Lawson.

Anyway, it’s done and I expect a Kyvyat/Albon situation.

I think the team will have no problem replacing him with Yuki in the summer if everything does not go according to the plan. It's not that bad for Yuki. The main thing is that Yuki must control his emotions and work cool while waiting for 2026.

Yeah, it is basically very similar if not worse with Verstappen since Verstappen is so much more determined than Hamilton to win every race if possible.

In the end, all these drivers are probably within a few tenths at worst if just asked to drive laps in free air under no pressure. However, confidence and things like that amplify the true pace delta substantially.

I somehow have a good feeling about Lawson doing okay. Let's see what happens.

Ricciardo left Red Bull because his raw pace differential with respect to Verstappen was growing very fast. Ricciardo is a great nostalgic driver to have back in the seat but his situation would be worse than what Norris did to him with this version of Verstappen.

This Sainz and Verstappen pairing is the only missed opportunity but there was a good chance to amend it this year and yet they chose to renew Perez. That was the terrible decision Red Bull made, partly because of internal conflict as well.

Think Lawson is awful. He’s lucky the pool is dry. Having said that, I think going in there now is probably the best time to go in there, as he will only be compared to Perez in 24’. I can’t see him reaching those lows, so being even remotely competitive, will be seen as a good decision.

One of those moves, whereby he will last one or two years, then be throw into the scrapyard at the back of the grid to see his days out.
