Re: Mods being threatening again

Post

There's a hell of a lot happens that you do not seem to see.

I'd have suggested that you discussed with Hollus that warning - posting it doesn't benefit anyone, does it?

You can choose to ignore, and report, rather than respond with a personal post.

Re: Mods being threatening again

Post

A comment from me that is worth repeating, because the mods keep getting this complaint that MY posts are being deleted while everyone ELSE's posts are not deleted.

a) 1/2 of your posts are being deleted, it is not all. (Fits 99% of the cases)

b) You do not get to see otehr people's posts that were deleted because... it should be obvious.

From most user's point of view, it might look like we are singling them out. But you cannot see what is deleted from otehr people. Yoy cannot see who ELSE gets warnigns.
So assuming that only ME gets warnings and only ME dets deletions is a bit ME centric and unfair.

This about it. It is a kind of fog of war, and it should be obvious.

That said, most users rarely get deletions and never get warnings, so there mst be a way of posting that is not possible to take as picking fights.

*And it was Yuki himself that used to word "hobby" (from a few posts above).

Re: Mods being threatening again

Since I am already in explaining mode and following up on the fog of war comment above:

One of my favorite complaints, typically after a yin-yang match, is "I got a warning and the other guy is still posting". Well, you got a warning and you are still posting, so that fact that other guy is still posting tells you... nothing. As said, Fog of War.

It also bears explaining that it normally takes 3 warnings in a few months to warrant a temp ban. Meaning that the consequences of a first warnign are pretty much negligible. It might feel a bit uncomftable (or like a threat?) and larger than this, but the (unofficial) three warning rule means that we can be a tiny bit liberal with warnings, they normally carry little practical consequences, and always if they are isolated.
So a warning should be taken less like a threat and more like a sign that one had crossed some red lines on the forum. It is a flashing light that one has crossed those red lines.

More explaining: Most warnings seem to land on people that engage on a lot of driver vs driver fights.
I can understand that if one is driver centric, other forums might be a bit toxic and the atmosphere here is a bit more pleasant and civil, so it is tempting to come here for the tech and then indulge on the driver hobby. But driver centric conversations have this way of vevolving into sluggish tit for tat matches, of getting personal and nasty, of never leading anywhere and of becomming spam and blocking threads.
So, well, if they are spammy, personal and nasty, and block threads, they tend to attract warnings. Not too surprising?

In my eyes, every time that we get 10 pages solid of my-guy vs your-guy, no mine, no, not yours, mine; an engineer actually working on racing cars decides that the signal to noise level in the forum is too low to be worth his time and decides to leave. We've seen a few that explicitly said so, suspect many others. And we try to prevent that.
So stay away from the extreme driver fandom and you should be in the clear.
The forum is allowed to have a focus on metal and composite parts, and less on organic neural network control interfaces.

Guys, its like when you compete. The stewards make the decisions on what they (think ) they see and we have to abide by it if we disagree or not.
They may be right, they may be wrong, but if they are not there the rest of us can not have our fun.

There is of course the right of appeal :D

Well maybe you could explane to me where I did cross the red lines so I got/deserved a warning?
And where was I spamming? What is spamming according to you?

Could you please pay special attention to the green part?! @CMSMJ1 won't let me use red because that's aggressive. #-o
I have to use green or purple according to him in a PM this afternoon!

I wrote a message about Honda, that they were not happy,

https://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewt ... 7#p1264727

to which @_cerber responded with an big image of a person saying something along the lines of "Who cares, who wants to know?"

It wasn't the same but it looked like something as these two @_cerber1 posted but bigger:

Image ... Image

I then copied from his profile his name and the movie sentence and wrote "I do" behind it.

Image

It was both deleted immediately as usual, so I can't show it. Immediately an official warning with the following:
.
The following is a warning which has been issued to you by an administrator or moderator of this site.
This is a warning regarding the following post made by you: https://www.f1technical.net/forum/viewt ... 6#p1264736 .

“Well @ _cerber1 Location: From Russia with love/McLaren fan ..... I do!!

This feels like an ad hominem attack. Why on earth bring Russia into it?
And telling people that they should not post here is a no-no.
And you are spamming the thread again.
.
which I think is complete nonsense, because it is absolutely not a personal attack!!!
I just copied "@ _cerber1 Location: From Russia with love" from his profile, his own words. (James Bond movie)
I did not copy that because of Russia, but because of "with love"!!
Hollus always explains / takes everything negatively.

I just wanted to say that again a McLaren fan has something against their former Honda PU supplier .
He is allowed to post that image, but I am not allowed to respond to it, because then I will get a warning. #-o

Don't be so silly

I made that point to you that RED and BOLD, when used as written form is aggressive and suggested that other colours would be less likely to be seen that way.

To fellow members: Why is this discussion still going after three months?
To moderators: "Wrong colour" is Reddit level pedantry.

I'm a long-time lurker, new casual member of this forum and these power struggles have become a huge turn-off.

Is that so? Why aren't you telling/leave out the whole context?
A member wrote a very long message to me with several questions and it is more simple to answer them in another color
instead of every time quoting a question and answering it.
Then you wrote me out of the blue a PM which I answered. Here a few sentences from it:

Wouter - it is this kind of post that can be seen or read as personal and aggressive - Red and BOLD?

Have a care, read twice and I'd probably ask you to recognise that your direct quoting and responses in RED are aggressive..
Try a nice green, or soothing purple..

Cheers

What is wrong with RED and BOLD?! I use it to see a clear difference between Peter's quotes and my answers.
That's all!! I don't use red to be aggressive!! What is wrong with you?!

It seems you could use a break. Have a nice Christmas.🎄✨

Note: I've adopted that habit from other people on adult forums of using red to distinguish your answer from the other questioner.
Are all those people aggressive?! I really don't think so.
.
I hereby end this discussion. I'd rather spend my time on more meaningful things.
Have a nice evening y'all.
