Interesting, I generally find Zandvoort a bit dull unless it is wet, with overtaking quite hard. I wont miss it. I like the track, but it's a procession to me.

Spa usually has a lot more, but they shortened the DRS because it was too easy to overtake. Too much in my opinion. Austin is another race where the DRS zone felt short.

I'll wait for the 26 season. before I buy into the scare stories.

F1 drivers who swear could be fined up to €80,000 and lose points, say new FIA guidelines

An updated to the FIA Sporting Code reveals stricter sanctions against Formula 1 drivers using salty language, and other actions

Jan 22, 2025, 10:47 PM

The FIA has issued a series of stewards' penalty guidelines that could result in Formula 1 drivers collecting fines or championship points penalties for swearing or other sporting code violations. These are an extension of FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem's contentious call last season for F1 drivers to limit their use of profanity.

The FIA released an updated version of its sporting code on Wednesday with a guidelines for infractions committed under Article 12, particularly with regards to misconduct.

The governing body defines misconduct as "the general use of language (written or verbal), gesture and/or sign that is offensive, insulting, coarse, rude or abusive and might reasonably be expected or be perceived to be coarse or rude or to cause offense, humiliation or to be inappropriate", "assaulting (elbowing, kicking, punching, hitting, etc.)", and "incitement to do any of the above".

These guidelines also include base fines, which are multiplied by four for F1 drivers.

Committing an infraction within the bounds of misconduct includes a €10,000 base fine for the first offence - which becomes €40,000 for an F1 driver, rising to a base €20,000 fine (€80,000 in F1) and a suspended one-month suspension on the second offence.

A further instance involves a fine of €30,000 (€120,000 in F1) with "1-month suspension plus deduction of Championship points".

Similar penalties will be granted for "any words, deeds or writings that have caused moral injury or loss to the FIA, its bodies, its members or its executive officers, and more generally on the interest of motor sport and on the values defended by the FIA" and "any public incitement to violence or hatred".

..... and more.

There are so many other by far more important topics the FIA should finally solve.

Yep, but the president is clearly a prudish control freak!

F1 drivers face bans for criticising ruling body

FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem triggered controversy last season with an interview in which he said
he wanted drivers not to swear in their cars
BBC Andrew Benson

Formula 1 drivers face race bans if they repeatedly swear or criticise the sport's governing body under new rules introduced this year.

Changes to the FIA's sporting code for the 2025 season codify the steps to a potential race ban for drivers deemed guilty of such offences.

They mean that if a driver commits three such offences they are at risk of a "one-month suspension plus deduction of championship points".

The Grand Prix Drivers' Association (GPDA) said it had "no comment on that matter for the time being".

Multiple sources have told BBC Sport that "a lot of" people at the FIA were against the move.

One source said it was pushed through on a "snap e-vote and with no consultation with other stakeholders or the GPDA or the FIA's own drivers' commission".

Another said it was "not right" to act in this way and questioned why this could not have been scheduled for discussion at the next meeting of the world motorsport council.

The changes mark the latest in a series of moves by the FIA which have been seen as attempts to stifle dissent or criticism of the president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

The most recent was a set of changes to the FIA statutes that opponents said would reduce accountability at the FIA, which were introduced in December at the end of a a year in which a series of allegations had been made about the conduct of Ben Sulayem.

And they come less than two months after GPDA director George Russell, the Mercedes F1 driver, said he and his colleagues were "a bit fed up with" the FIA leadership.

The changes for this year define heavy fines and a rising sequence of punishment for drivers guilty of breaching the sporting code.

Art. 12.2.1.o ISC says

The general making and display of political, religious and personal statements or comments notably in violation of the general principle of neutrality promoted by the FIA under it's statues ...

A Jalaba in the pitlane is a religious statement, as is any mentioning or attribute to any god (cross jewelery, tattoo). So is the prohibition of alcohol in arab countries ...

Those will end as well then ?

A Jalaba is not a religious attire. Kaftan, Djellaba, origin Morocco, is traditional Arabic wardrobe, has nothing to do with religion. Muslims, Christians, Jews etc wear it. Anyone can (& do) wear it.
Long experience has taught me this about the status of mankind with regards to matters requiring thought. The less people know and understand about them, the more positively they attempt to argue concerning them; while on the other hand, to know and understand a multitude of things renders men cautious in passing judgement upon anything new. - Galileo..

I hope the drivers are going to take some kind of course 'how to politely swear in classic British', and we'll see surrealistic monty-pythonesque scenes. If you can't be human, just overplay the theater they apparently want.
