Re: 2025 Scuderia Ferrari F1 Team

Post

I can't remember the last time I posted an Autoracer stream recap :o Must have been last November!

As usual the summary comes from Scuderia Ferrari FRA, I just translated :)
  • Lewis Hamilton tested many aspects of the Ferrari Power Unit, understanding how the engine performs during acceleration, braking, power delivery, etc.
  • Hamilton has already provided some interesting technical feedback to the technical team today, despite the challenging track conditions.
  • Ferrari 2025: In a few days, more details will emerge about the direction the technical team has taken with the project. For now, it can already be said that the biggest change involves the front suspension (pull-rod). A significant part of the performance will depend on this choice. Ferrari will feature pull-rod suspensions at both the front and rear (notable changes are expected at the rear; further details to come).
  • The 2025 car is a bold project, pushing the 2024 car's concepts further to the extreme in terms of both mechanics and aerodynamics.
  • The decision to adopt a pull-rod suspension system at the front was made by Diego Tondi, the head of aerodynamics. Cardile was relatively conservative regarding the front mechanics, but Tondi took the risk, and it is a correct decision.
  • Work has also started on developing the 2026 project, where Loïc Serra (technical director) is delving into more hands on work.

my 2cts. What a dignified presence of Lewis at Hamilton. You can see the "I´m feeling good" vibe back.
His passion and commitment. Both technical and cultural is outstanding.
Time to visit the Italian GP again ´the Italian way....´.
Whatever team or driver you support (me included  ), it´s time Ferrari earned the the Triple (WCC, WDC and 2. place) and Lewis his 8th.

The exact day of that Barcelona run has yet to be confirmed with four days said to be booked to allow Ferrari to run on the three best days.

Rumour is 27th onwards

Hamilton and Leclerc will share driving duties across the three days, meaning they will be on track for a day and a half each.

somehow it feels like LH is coming out of retirement or something. Similar to when MS did with Merc to much fanfare

Yeah, and, no. I just think it’s more that F1 driver moves have become very stale for quite a number of years, so a reaction like this was inevitable.

He won two races last year, and on the TV directors mind pretty much every race, such is his draw. Doesn’t feel like he’s been away. He is F1, however people like that or not. Ferrari will squeeze everything out of this deal.

I'm terrified of the word extreme in this regulation set. To me it has always seemed like you should push a conventional concept as far as possible, but avoid any extreme solutions as far as possible. The RB20, W13 and SF23 really hammered home that extreme solutions rarely work out as intended, even if they produce incredible numbers in the wind tunnel.

Hopefully they mean extreme as in pushing their current, fairly conventional car concept to the limits of what it's capable of with small tweaks to what is already there, rather than going for some kind of extreme unconventional solutions.

Obviously I'm a total layman and I have no clue what I'm talking of. I'm just terrified that Ferrari will do something stupid.

The front suspension needed an extreme makeover anyway so let’s just hope it actually works.

I see this as a big risk, although necessary. If the team cannot come to grips with it right away, it will cost Ferrari points in the first few races as they try to dial down the right settings... Let's just hope this doesn't cost the team too much at the beginning.

Ferrari had to make the switch. It was so evident that this was holding the performance of the car back.
Hamilton experience should help them set it up

It's just not that radical OR extreme, both RB & McL started this rules era with pull front.

Ferrari in all liklihood have a better comparison than most teams, with a successful push arrangement, understanding of the mechanical properties of that, then the comparison to what they expect in wind tunnel between the two .... finally how they can match exceed or compromise in design to bring advantage in outcome now.

That is intelligent development as far as I can see.

They've also been thinking about this change for awhile now, it's not like they randomly decided last minute to do this.

According to Motorsport IT, 2000 (!) Tifosi were at the track yesterday! https://it.motorsport.com/f1/news/f1-de ... /10690849/

To me it feels like he’s been reenergised, and that is a good thing for all of us.
