Last year with the Renault engine... end of an era.
I expect nothing on engine side, but end of 2024 was not so bad, I hope they will start where they finished and improve.

I am curious to see the Colapinto / Doohan situation evolve.

Gasly recent interview seemed very positive on progress.

They can realistically fight for 5.

Teams "below" do not seem to have the mojo of moving forward (from different reasons).

Aston is having huge problems and will be focusing on 2026 (I guess).

The top 4 is untouchable due to engine power deficit and effectiveness of those top 4 teams.

PlanetF1 says, that Briatore ordered a report that compares pace of Doohan and Collapinto in Barcelona test that was recently organised.

And the report said:
In favour of Colapinto of between two and five-tenths over Doohan
Interesting, isn't it?

Where they testing on the same day same time ? When you're talking 5 tenths... tracks conditions can vary that in just 15 minutes.

Here is the link. For me it’s not clear how they tested it but it states like it was „analytical”.

What I take from that is . He'll start the year, If he is close or better than Pierre he stays. The rest of it is mumbo jumbo you can toss in the trash.

Doohan was slow in Abu Dhabi. But I let him off as it was his first race and he didn't have the same machinery as Gasly.

But being 5 tenths slower would be pretty unacceptable. I read somewhere that Doohan was 1 second slower in the test with Gasly, so that would put Colapinto around 3-5 tenths off Gasly.

But let's hope Jack comes out swinging :D

Jack was terribly show in Abu Dhabi GP. Bloody last in quali, super slow, not fighting in race.

You can say that its the first GP and first quali BUT he had multiple practices, simulator time and older cars time. He knew the team and the car.

Compare it to the entrance of Collapinto, Lawson, Bearman, even Antonelli and Piastri. All of them were fast, brave and fighting from the early beginning.

Doohan just seems to be slow and that's it. It looks like they will give him few races as "thank you" for contribution to the team and replace him with Collapinto.

I don't think it's fair to judge him on Abu Dhabi, he was in Ocon's car which was clearly lacking in performance compared to Gasly's ever since it was announced he was leaving the team. Plus, Abu Dhabi is hardly a track you can make much of an impression on anyway.
