Hi, how do we plan to manage the
radius of curvature? The geometry included in the volumes
"Sidepods" and
"Engine cover" has limitations on the radius of curvature (R50, R100, R75...): I would suggest simplifying with more design freedom, accepting a curvature larger than
R50. If it is not possible to verify by automated control, we could include the verification of this rule in the "specific" on-demand checks and verify by CAD locally or even by manual verification (sphere that must be able to rest on the indicated point, in tangency, without exceeding the surface.
I have an idea for automatically checking radius. But it will require a quite a bit of work, as you cannot really check curvature radius on stls. The idea goes somthing like this:

We are, however, already introducing a lot of new stuff for this season already, so imo we can discuss implementing this for next season.

What is inside a reference volume?
...
Wow, this automated scrutineering looks awesome ! many thanks. Just a quick thought on the Z-fighting stuff, I'm not sure I fully get the problem, what about offsetting the MVRC reference volume for the legalitycheck (like by 0.05mm or something) so that if a competitor cut his CAD with RefVolume it would remain legal (as I guess it should be ?)
I can see your point. I will look into possible fixes, but I dont think that having two sets of volumes is the right solution.
Here is the latest version of the technical regulation draft:

To fully replicate the F1 rules, we need quite a number of seperate parts for the frontwing, floor and rearwing. If you notice areas that can be combined or simplified then please comment here, or in the document. Hopefully we can agree on something soon and get the season started.
