It is what it is. Obviously, if they have to use Merc's Tunnel they will.
That article, plus another one I read, suggests that they have contacted the FIA about the 2nd tunnel and the FIA are awaiting a call to go over and inspect the tunnel.
It's obviously better if they can use the new tunnel but it isn't the end of the world if they need too continue to use the Merc Tunnel. Merc will continue to use their tunnel regardless of what AM F1 does. I'm not sure what all the fuss is about.
