Good news re signing Oscar longer term, I think.... Though have a niggling feeling Macca would be better off with a No1 driver and strong 2nd driver. As things are now, we could have an internal battle that could dilute both championships. But, early days.

I am really surprised that Piastri signed with term. Lando has been holding his own there. And there could be opportunities at the other big teams. Will Lawson and Antonelli work out ? Who knows. Will hamilton finish his contract or retire mid season ? I could see him retiring.

I would take it as a promising sign for the 2026 prospects and beyond, especially since he was already signed up till the end of 2026. If he feels there's a good chance McLaren will be front running long term, why would he leave? Look at Daniel Ricciardo, we can now all agree that leaving Red Bull was the worst decision of his career, even though he made a lot of money. I'm happy that Oscar, like Lando has bought into the project.
Q: (Stefano Mancini – La Stampa) Kimi, will you help Vettel to win his championship this year?
Kimi Raikkonen: I can only drive one car, obviously.

Given current weather forecast let's hope we will get to see a proper race.
Seems very rainy on Sunday right around race start time.

And incredibly windy, looks like tropical weather, heavy showers, thunder and wind.

I think that is a bit of an exaggeration. Winds of 15 to 20 mph & showers is what the Australian meteorological office have forcast.

Alex Kalinauckas’ article about the back and forth between starting the season in Australia and Bahrain.

Article is behind a paywall so I’ll only quote a snippet.

He said this about the Mclaren:
‘McLaren insiders suggest it has succeeded in improving its car package in terms of traction and stability through the tight turns’

Russell sticking to his prediction that McLaren have the strongest car, especially in terms of race pace.

For me, Merc will know exactly what engine mode McLaren ran during their respective race runs.

It's pretty easy to hype up competitors. All around is a win-win. If it turns out to be that way, the prediction comes true and you can cower behind the "we told you so" curtain. If not, you look like overachievers who managed to beat the favorites. I say we wait to see a clearer picture once we get racing on a couple of different tracks.

True and it’s all part of the physiological warfare but why would he say Mclaren? He could easily have said Ferrari.

Also I’ve always had the impression with Russell is a man who is very confident, so confident to the point that if he thought Mercedes was ‘the fastest’ after the Bahrain test he would rank Mercedes to be the team to beat.
