Charles also said same. I mean we did see the potential on Friday. but yea really bad follow up after that. so far they have not admitted what went wrong.
the raising of the car for plank wear doesnt make sense to me, someone correct me if im wrong but the plank wear in Melbourne comes from riding the curbs, all indications pointed towards Ferrari expecting a wet race and in a wet race your going much slower and also not taking the curbs as much so that reduces plank wear right there and i doubt it would wear enough during the 6 runs in quali to get a DSQ, that usually a race distance concern, so yea why raise the car, if it was raised i really doubt it was a plank wear corcern.SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 18:49All we know for now is that they made a setup change from Friday to Saturday, and it absolutely tanked the performance of the car. If indeed it was raising the car that did this, then we have a serious issue - raising the car a couple mm should not tank the pace like that. Let's see in China but I am anxious to say the least.
I wonder if the gearbox theory has legs. That could be potentially alarming if so.Luscion wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 19:06the raising of the car for plank wear doesnt make sense to me, someone correct me if im wrong but the plank wear in Melbourne comes from riding the curbs, all indications pointed towards Ferrari expecting a wet race and in a wet race your going much slower and also not taking the curbs as much so that reduces plank wear right there and i doubt it would wear enough during the 6 runs in quali to get a DSQ, that usually a race distance concern, so yea why raise the car, if it was raised i really doubt it was a plank wear corcern.SoulPancake13 wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 18:49All we know for now is that they made a setup change from Friday to Saturday, and it absolutely tanked the performance of the car. Whats strange about it. Why on earth would they want to be completely transparent about what the issues might be? It’s for them to resolve behind closed doors, we’re just speculating rememberFittingMechanics wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 20:45Why wouldn't Ferrari explain that they had to raise the ride height because of risk of DSQ? Surely it would be a better look than what they had. Or if the gearbox is getting hammered, say that is the case and that they are working on a fix. Secrecy doesn't really help.
Maybe it's just something that they think can be quickly fixed so they can be quiet about it? Strange.
In my opinion, it is worse that everyone thinks they built a sh**t car than that they have a slight issue with plank wear that they didn't figure out in time.
Is there a difference between having to raise the car and lacking performance though? Everyone could gain extra time if they could run the car lower than legality.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑17 Mar 2025, 20:45Why wouldn't Ferrari explain that they had to raise the ride height because of risk of DSQ?
