The problem is assuming both cars can do the same thing and hold the same line.

If these were spec cars, I’d agree, but how cars rotate, etc. all differ in F1 and you’ll end up with different lines.
Watch the video.

Nothing I'm pointing out is car-related at all. Anybody who does any kind of half-serious sim racing(or real life racing) will understand what I'm saying. ANY car on the grid will understeer in the situations Max was putting himself in there. Max was not taking the optimal lines for the car, he was simply trying to get the car to do more than it could. Lewis would have faced the same issues if he took the same lines as Max. But Lewis took smarter lines on that final lap, being less aggressive on turn-in and reaping the rewards on exit. That's all it is. Max is phenomenal, but these are the tiny little things that can vary lap per lap even among top drivers.
Unless you’re driving Redbull and Ferrari’s sim back to back, you have no idea. You can and should admit that. Real life isn’t a video game.

In our REAL life racing, all cars can’t do the same things in corners. This is fact.
Lewis was running too low all weekend. Over 1 lap or a short race the floor will not wear too much. That provides so much more grip.

I think if the updates that are coming soon work then we'll be slightly off Mclaren still but much more likely to take a win if they slip up. I don't think 0.300 is possible in single update this late into the regs unless we really held back a b-spec car until we got confirmation that the direction we're going in is right during pre season testing . It will take a combination of TD018 hurting MCLs balance and Redbull nailing the upgrades to start winning races again, so atleast 6-7 races away.
This is more like Mercedes 2022 situation, not as grave, but it is. They realized in Bahrain that the car isn't where they thought it would be. If there are issues in correlation or their work not yielding the output they thought it would, then it's a given that the upgrades built on such a foundation and under such circumstances, would only complicate the matter further and might take them further down the wrong path. I don't see any upgrade coming sooner as they have to go back to the root of the problem, understand it, solve it and then rework the upgrade.

Like Allison told last year, time can be your friend and enemy. If you go down the wrong path, it's an enemy. Others move forward while they have to scratch their head. It would make sense to understand the current problems, fix the tools and processes that led this situation and then simply focus on 2026. No point in wasting CFD and Wind tunnel time to fix the current situation.
Red bull already spent the 2nd half of last season figuring out their problems and they did, they traced back problems all way back to Spain 23. They partly resolved them in late season RB20 and now the balance is even further improved with RB21 at least according to Max.

The RB21 is a good upgrade over end spec RB20. The only problem is that MCL found just as much performance and they already had a lead at the end of last season. Now it's about adding more downforce and how well they can do that without disturbing the balance any further, which is easier said than done of course.

If the team replace Lawson, Yuki better start scoring points from the get go because too many people have an axe to grind with respect to Red Bull. If he is close to Max at least he can stay with the team although media will keep asking him if he can beat Max basically every opportunity they get. Today Max's interview about asking him to say he'll leave Red Bull is just insane but anyways he is cool and that's good.
Call a spade, a spade.

sometimes i wonder if they is some kind of war brewing in those two redbull teams for example what was the point of yuki strategy is like they dont want him to score points and politically they will probably want to have hadjar in that redbull.lawson is too like in some cases 2 secound slow maybe Honda are screwing him up with pu maps make him look bad and to get yuki in that car.its all speculation but some things just dont make sense .

And for what reason? Ruining Yuki’s career too? It’s obvious that no one else than Max can wring pace out of that car. When he leaves Red Bull, which will be very soon, this team will be battling Sauber. That is no joke, it is reality. The sooner they start addressing the driveability of that car for real, the better for the team long term.
rb are already doing that by bumbling his strategy every weekend ,he has no contract for next year these could be an opportunity of a lifetime to get a seat at top team .maybe Honda will bring suzuka special pu to help him

Looking at Max's onboard from the front wing cam there really wasnt all that much flexing going on. The normal amount I'd say but nothing major.
Unfortunately there werent any front wing shots from either mclaren driver so I couldn't check how much flex there is on mclaren.

Listening to radio messages it seems they needlessly overmanaged in the first stint and left some time on the table. Maybe could even trouble russell in the end..

Bingo. My thoughts exactly as I watched the race - "is redbull aiming for a first stint of 25 laps with M ?" ; only to see Max asked to box in lap14. That was a terrible mistake by the team. Perhaps they were scared by the massive fall off of M in the sprint race, after just 10-12 laps.

I think that was the case with everyone at the front, except Charles. Russell wasn't pushing flat out either. When Charles was in DRS on Russell, he couldn't get close enough for a DRS move as Russell was getting great traction out of turn 12 as Charles said on radio, "that Mercedes is a dragster. The traction out of turn 12 is unbelievable", which suggests Russell was keeping good life in tires.

Wasn't it that there was a close pack of cars fighting each other and that was the reason Max was boxed, same as Hamilton? They didn't want him coming out behind..

I think the decision was not made yet.

This article seems better than that sky article.

Seems to me, they want to help Liam by moving him to racing bulls.

Smart move. Let him get a reference point in what is a known entity to him. If Isaak beats Lawson, his F-1 career is toast.
If Yuki outqualifies Max.. then.. :P
For Sure!!
