It's damp but already starting to dry in some parts. The main road leading into the circuit is pretty dry now.

Yeah I knew it would be at worst damp, but overall nothing too crazy. The Mclaren's tires should last a good while but so will the Mercedes.

Japan's weather forecast shows Southern Mie prefecturer will see more rain around 4-4:30pm local time. Suzuka Circuit is showing very light rain from 4pm, but not much between 2pm-4pm. Maybe spitting rain toward the end of the race.

Hamilton back on his "favorite" starting-on-hards strategy. Makes sense, though, I guess. Not much to lose for them.

What on earth are McLaren doing? What kind of strategy is this?

Have a strong feeling the true pace of the Maccas is getting masked by VER leading.

they probably could go a bit faster, but McLaren's main advantage seems to be better tire deg - and today there is none anway.

Severely mismanaged race by McLaren, looking like last year all over. Let Piastri have a go if Norris can’t.

It's always one thing to be stuck in dirty air within 2 seconds whole race and then lapping in clear air though. Totally could have seen them when comfortably by 10s if not for VER.

Also they have a pace advantage as well, not just wear.

There would be no difference. These 2025 cars seem very poor for overtaking. Oscar would need to come within 0.3 seconds of Max to pass. What I think happens is that clean air in P-1 is more effective for the similarly paced cars to stay ahead. Redbull has pace, not a poor car by any means, but the clean air is probably making things look better than they are. Similar to Lewis winning the sprint.

Race is boring. No tyre deg and narrow track. Cool surface, so no overheating. Championship is tight. Max, Oscar, Lando, George.
For Sure!!
