I think Sainz's career is on the line if Albon maintains this margin over him. Very interested to follow this season.

Let's slow down. Right now he's an average of 0.1 seconds slower in qualifying than Albon with 3 weekends and a half day of testing in the car.

There's 21 weekends left and another 2 seasons under contract.

Sainz race was ruined by the penalty. He was behind Lawson the entire race pretty much. Quali was much better than in China. Let’s see if he keeps improving.

Sainz is pretty much a known quantity. He has done well against Verstappen, Leclerc, Norris and many others. If he isn't doing well in the Williams, it is most likely just a case of his teammate being really good, rather than Sainz underperforming.

Albon might just be really good, even if his time with Colapinto raised a few doubts about it. If this beatdown of Sainz continues, Colapinto's stocks will only continue to rise.

Let's use Occam's Razor here. If he's starting slow in the Williams, its likely because he's only had 3 races in the car.

Same thing goes for Lewis as well.

I could see if there was some fundamental driving style issue like Ricciardo at McLaren but there's nothing to suggest that. At Suzuka, the pace in qualifying and race pace in clean air was on par with Albon.

Looks like Hulk's Q1 lap should've been deleted. Albon should've been in Q2. Oh well.

Sainz with a good effort to get to P8. Slowly but surely getting on top of the car.

It was clear in Suzuka he already made a huge step.
Now let's see tomorrow race pace.

So dumb when FIA deletes Q1 times after Q3... Albon could have been through and gotten several more places if they checked it before Q2...

Terrible race which is unfortunate. Sainz pace was very good.

Albon had a good race as well until the Safety Car. He was right up there with Sainz and Tsunoda already.

Hard to say how the strategy would have played out, but I think points were well within reach.

There was a time when I thought both drivers would finish in the top 10. And I never would have imagined it.

I really like Albon; I think it's the best thing that could happen to motivate Carlos and help the team progress. Now we just have to avoid bad luck.

Solid Friday. I think this car is going to be pretty good at any track where they can take some downforce off and don't have to face a lot of med/high speed braking+turning. It's going to fly at Monza.

Sainz continuing to get more consistent with the car. Very good lap on soft in FP2.

Laughed lmao. Yeah not easy to adjust when you switch from a “top” team to a midfield one. Carlos just needs to get his head down and do his own race targeting P7 at best, taking care of the tyres, etc.

Pace wise he is slowly getting there, you can see it clearly improving each weekend. Tomorrow execution will be key in quali as even a small mistake can cost a lot when the field is so tight.
