It was good, but Charles was right on the back of Russell and Norris getting their dirty air while I believe Lewis had mostly clear air for the latter part of the stint

Now we know why usually Sainz was closer to Leclerc with hard tyres in the second stint.
Lewis said that with these tyres (hards) you need to use the rear to turn the car. Very interesting.

Everything considered, nice weekend overall. Still in the learning phase, making progress every session and every weekend. The car’s potential has not been exploited fully yet and probably will only be exploited once they ride the floor at optimal height and the car balanced out a bit more - probably with further upgrades or with setup work.
The upgrade worked while it was not even aimed at the issues.

I’m happy with the result on this track which suited McLaren and less so Ferrari. Next week we should see a stronger Ferrari. I’m expecting one or two cars on podium there.

Kudos to track side and garage operations btw. Magnificent job.

Important question at this point is... when do we shift focus for 2026. If the next batch of upgrades isn't significant enough to win races, then I fear there is no point in spending money to catch up when the title is all but decided.

Realistically, when the next batch arrives, i think all Ferrari can hope in this championship is the odd win, even without the SC and things going perfectly the team had no hope vs Piastri.

Yeah. Unless Barcelona TD absolutely tanks the performance of the McLaren, I don't see how anyone gets close enough to regularly compete for wins.

The chassis team needs to it's job regardless.
And the engine team, who i imagine is 100% done with the 2025 engine, needs to to catchup (suppousedly).

You guys act like Mercedes and Mclaren can't upgrade as well

I dont think there is much left in this regulation for McLaren to exploit. The car may just get more undrivable if they get too greedy for downforce. Ferrari theoretically can close up to where McLaren is now.

It was refreshing hearing from Lewis. His openness gives us a sneak peak of what really goes on in what he us feeling in the car and how he plans to improve. Drivers dont usually talk about technique. They tend to just speak about the upgrades. Yuki also provides these insights in how he is adapting to the RB21.

The constructors is still attainable. What is done in 4 races can be undone in another 4.
The fight to upgrade can continue until at least race 12.

Don’t fool yourself. If you let them keep these regulations on for another 3 years the best engineering team will still be digging out performance in 2028!

I don’t know how you guys lie to yourselves that in some possible universe McLaren will get slower due to upgrades. It’s possible they won’t see much gains like last year but it’s still an upgrade.

The only possible way McLaren ever get slower is the TD-Rules in Spain which I know they will get hit the hardest. But still you have the deal with Mercedes who are not that far off.

Tge dirty air and soft tyres made Russel look stronger than he really was.
Why i think there's a ceiling for development is the budget cap and wind tunnel time for Mclaren. We saw what happened to Redbull. They were untouchable and predictes to be keep improving until they hit a ceiling.
McLaren will be no different. If the money doesnt run out, the wind tunnel time will. They will be caught.
