I don't think on driver front i am to bothered, but one thing always plays on my mind is can a car be developed for 2 different driving styles? maybe goony would know but IF IF JB is going to Mclaren how would he fair against (i am assuming) a car to be designed arounfd Hamilton? or is this just a myth?

this is for sure not the case.the basic design and layout of the car will determine
massively the behaviour of the car,especially weight distribution is something with a really high impact on handling characteristic of the car ,if say the movable ballast in your design is not enough to get the desired handling for one of your drivers ,theres no chance to compensate fully with set up of the car ,so this drver will always have to live with a compromise situation whereas the other driver may not need to have this special weight distribution to make the car work for him.
just one example of a myriad not really setup related but affected by the basic car layout variables.

thanks Goony. But i always thought (obviously not driven a F1 car) cars have a innate tendancy to handle a certain way e.g oversterry or understeer/rear end unstable etc etc

I'm no expert, but there are some innate handling characteristics built into a car, for example a long wheelbase car is naturally more stable then a short wheelbase car, though a shorter wheelbase has its advantages too.

But goony is correct in that all the teams aim to make a neutral handling car with the maximum amount of downforce from the minimum amount of drag with regard to aero, and aim to present the tyres to the road in the most optimal way for the maximum amount of time with regard to the mechanical side.

With regard to using ballast to balance the car mentioned earlier, they should have plenty this season with the raised minimum weight limit and the removal of KERS despite the slightly longer chasis.

OK guys driving style we hear it a lot on tv and its all tosh

honestly do u think any driver wants a car to over or under steer whilst trying to negotiate a corner at 180mph

lol well yeah kinda, the commentators contain ex f1 drivers and engineers after all. I'm sure the best drivers can alter their style depending on the conditions and car. But you can see certain drivers driving with a more lively back end for example, but im not sure how much of this is down to driver input, car set-up or core car design.
