I hope that they get SPEED to make a video of the tests.

I think you have a better chance if you stake out that Charlotte parking lot.

USF1 going testing in Febuary

They have a track at Barber.

Why do WB and I have enormous white spaces at the bottom of our posts?

Just as one point to the naysayers, you have to give them some credit.

Lotus aren't even planning on testing until Jerez, but USF1 is going to test well before that (even if it is at an American track).

Interesting article on http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews ... 10320.html
What I would say is that as well as going into a new resource-restricted F1 era, we are also (hopefully) coming out of a global economic recession and a very turbulent 2009 season which had many dramas. At the moment it is very difficult to define the state of the economy, what sponsors will want to be in, what sponsors will want to be out, and where the money is coming from over the next five years. And I don’t think that many people have the answers. All we can do is look at what is available. We are a start-up team so we have to look at every opportunity. If there are companies out there that have associations with a driver because they have been supporting him for quite a while, or representing a country, or whatever, obviously we have to look at that. Providing the driver can do the job as well.
So apparently they are having trouble finding cash.
There is no way that we would sign a driver unless we felt confident that he could do an excellent job. That goes for everybody in the team. Everybody here is first class at what he does. Ken and I have said from day one that our mantra will be to have the least possible number of the best possible people. That is what the team is all about and that goes for the drivers as well. There’s no way we would sign a guy unless we believe in his talent 100 percent.
So definately 2 "qualified" pay drivers.

Talladega is less than an hour's drive from Barber Motorsports park. Now THAT would be fun... 2 2/3 mile tri-oval, 33 degree banking...

I just mean in terms of knowing where you are. Unless they are supremely confident of their preformance its usually a good idea to size up your competition before you get too far long a certain path.

But if it costs 1/10 the price then I can't really argue.
I think they know they aren't going to be at the middle, much less the front. Yeah sizing up your rivals in your area is a good idea, but I doubt overall performance related to the field is big on their agenda. Just getting a running car and making the races across the world is probably higher on the list.

I doubt that there will be many fans at the track (if fans are allowed) for a test in the deep south (read NASCAR country). So if I am only one of a dozen or so people there, maybe my HD video will still be all that you guys get to see!

Although, a journo pass would still be great!

It's not too far from me. I might consider a drive over myself, especially if there's toasters to be had.

And I can take stills to go with that video.

Barber seems like a proper road track which would allow for sensible F1 testing. Talladega would probably be nice for the US fans but do sod all for testing any slow to mid level cornering.
