Did you guys read this
Official
Max Papis 1 min 20.613 sec 102.713 miles per hour (165.301 km/h) 9 October 2004 Riley-Lexus Daytona Prototype
Unofficial
Will Power 1 min 9.4557 sec 119.213 miles per hour (191.855 km/h) 23 March 2009 Dallara-Honda IndyCar

Wonder how much faster USF1 car will be able to lap below the one min mark. May be even a good crowd if it is nice and sunny will be a wonderful reception to the gusy working behind the project.

Barber Motorsports Park is one of my favourite US tracks. The long (grand prix?) layout is a lot of fun. However the run-off should be much bigger if he's driving:

Driving? What do you mean panda? Listen to Windsor and you learn about priorities in life:

"For now, though, it's winter in Charlotte; no doubt about that. It's a nice winter, though: the skies are invariably blue come lunch time and out the back of our factory, in the loading bays, we've already had the first of our team barbecues. Try doing that in the middle of the European winter!"

Once again the important stuff is left behind the scenes. Did they do the bbq using the toasters, CFD, or the more traditional way?

Doesn't say, perhaps the autoclave, but I'm certain it's a secret-recipe BBQ-sauce in there somewhere.

Gene Hallman of Zoom Motorsports, which promotes and operates Barber, says no deal has been reached yet.

"We hope to work something out but we don't have anything finalized," said Hallman, who added that the track was recommended to USF1's management by Formula One officials.

He said the track was contacted about available dates only within the last day.

If the test session does occur, it would be closed to the public, Hallman said, but would nonetheless be a boost to Barber's prestige.
Murray: "And there are flames coming from the back of Prost's car as he enters the swimming pool."
James: "Well, that should put them out then."

Is a nose supposed to desintegrate like that in the test, I thought there would be something left halfway or so?

Yes, it should.

The act of tearing the fibers apart causes the nose to absorb the energy.

Compare both those videos with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2H_leY_Q8k
around 1:30 or so, williams' nosecone is less damaged after crash. Maybe it is suboptimal?
