Shameful? That sounds judgemental. No, its just reality. Even established teams have little to say during the close season.

the point is :
building up an f1-operation is not like sand shoveling and so you can´t really judge the final result early on as an outsider.
In my days as a modelmaker (when 5-axis CNC machining was something you had heard off but you had to do it by hand then..)you basically stood in front of a huge wall
plastered with a paper blueprint around 3metres in length and 1m in height trying to figure out where all those lines belonged .It took you something like two weeks of thinking before you even thought about touching any machine ,not even preparing tooling böock or whatever. In fact you had to be quite ready eith your idea just how to build up model and moulds before touching the material ,otherwise failure was not a possibility but a reality.
So not seeing anything done is in no ways a hint nothing has been done ,in fact the final assembly of the car is a straightforward job and in todays Digital MockUp times I am really amused some things still fail to fit ,but that is another story altogether...
so really those little details that may have slipped out of seight of the engineering department may represent the real challenge for the new teams as they may or may not have a person with the necessary detail knowledge for each an every subsystem on board already ....So I expect them all to have minor or major glitches in the runup to the first race...but not having two cars ready ? You are dreaming ...that is the easy part.

I think he mentioned something like being the most transparent team and making a breakthrough at openly sharing their technology and how the team is being built up (as opposed to the usual secretive behavior of other F1 teams). Speed TV and all that, you know.
I don't thnk USF1 originally planned to START design in August, when the regulations were finally set by the concorde agreement.

If they had the chance to start earlier, I think things would have been different. Instead they had to put their heads down and get to the business of desinging and constructing a car!

Besides, in the past 2 weeks they have shown more of their facility and personnel than some teams have over the past 2 years.

Moreover, since conceived last year, they have presented more xecutives than the other three newbies combined,
quite an achievement for a skunkworks operation, no?

I'm getting the impression here that xpensive would still be bashing USF1 even if they managed to win the first race with Danica Patrick. :-({|=

If that should for some reason happen, I promise to swear-off all my sacred beliefs and convert to become
a "Mosley-megaphone" or a "Todt-telegraph", just like you WB!

Well, at least they haven't fired any yet. Virgin is way ahead of them in that game.

And if they did win the first race with Danica in the car I think a part of me would die inside...possibly all of me.

Don't worry, you won't die. She'll be watching the race with me, in bed.

Watched both the Bob Varsha reports, and there was nothing in either to suggest a car, or parts exist. I'd have thought they'd show some of the bits and pieces, but nothing, probably all being made in China....

No, but at the rate they are going, they will finally make their way out of the design office in part 12-15 (assuming about 5 feet of movement per segment).

Then they have to tour the shop area, stare at parts being machined, etc.

So by the time you see the car it will be part 25-30 ish. Which will probably be just in time for it to leave for Barber, lol.
