I think that's Enrique Mansilla from his Van Diemen Formula Ford days? But I confess I had to look it up.

James: "Well, that should put them out then."

Damn, half an hour googling to come up with that guy and you beat me to it!!!

The photo in the McLaren it's from 1982, so it should be Byrne, Dave Scott or Quique Mansilla and I guess that's Mansilla's helmet...

My Google-foo is stronger than yours! :P Should wait for Belatti to confirm it though. Here's a picture of the helmet driving a F3 car in 1982.

Edit: I just found this..
" Quit racing after a lack of sponsorship, and became a gold and diamond hunter in Africa. However, when based in Liberia, during their civil war, he was kidnapped and held captive for 5 months. Because of both his links to then President Charles Taylor and being a foreign national, Enrique became somewhat of a political pawn but his high profile probably saved his life. After being released, he surprisingly stayed in Liberia to work for President Taylor, again in the gold and diamond industries. After a short spell in the US, Enrique is now back in Argentina, leading a much quieter life!"

Sounds like a chap worth having a conversation with.

And when, and for which manufacturer, did he win his first world championship?

You don't want to breed all night over it to make it extra difficult, will you? This is supposed to be for fun.
