If you are talking about this car:vall wrote:it seems to me that some of the released studio pictures are just slightly modified version of R29 with the new livery? The car they showed today has narrower nose?
If not, ignore this post.Joe Saward wrote:This confused me somewhat as it also said that the R30 would remain on show in L’Atelier until February 28, which naturally had me wondering what the team is going to use for testing throughout February, as there are no teams out there which has built extra cars at this time of year, when the production capacity is needed to manufacture all the ideas that come out of the tests in time for the first race. So I must conclude that the car being unveiled and left in Paris for a month is a 2010 show car, rather than the real thing.

URG! This is not the new car. The new car is not being revealed until tomorrow.Jan_83 wrote:Woohoo! What a beautyful car. I like it.
Has a shorter wheelbase than the other contenders we have seen so far. Maybe that those better proportions make it so cute. And the colourscheme is just...great.

It seems we have to wait until tomorrow for the R30.
Well the first issue with that is the steering rack on the R29 was not in line with the lower wishbone, on what we saw today it was. Also what you have quoted isn;t in the article? Have you re-read it since? They might have been wrong, GPupdate are not always particularly accurate.horse wrote:Diesel wrote:WOW, the wheelbase is almost the same looking at those pictures, I could imagine this would be a huge advantage at somewhere like Monaco. Apparently this isn't the true R30 and is actually a modified r29. This would explain how the wheelbase has remained almost exactly the same as last years car.manchild wrote:Sorry, low res pic tricked me.roost89 wrote:'choo been smokin'?manchild wrote:Front cameras on brake ducts!

Well, the story has changed now. It said first time that they were hiding the R30 in the garage for tomorrow. Damn journo's, changing their online stories, naughty.Diesel wrote:the first issue with that is the steering rack on the R29 was not in line with the lower wishbone, on what we saw today it was. Hot debate! The guys at f1fanatic.co.uk aren't so sure, either!!!manchild wrote:It is a new car. Take a closer look at full size photo.
No one modifies chassis, suspension, bodywork, wings, ducts etc. just for livery presentation.
Wheelbase is similar to last year's since Renault has very low fuel consumption, so their fuel tank is 20 liters smaller than at some other teams.
Ok, looks like the exhausts are now aligned to the back of the yellow fairing, which would indicate that the engine has moved (or at least the exhaust has changed). I suppose this is in favour of it being a new car.Pandamasque wrote:
Why is everyone comparing the 09 launch car? The car by the end of the season had altered quite a bit.manchild wrote:It is a new car. Take a closer look at full size photo. http://img641.imageshack.us/img641/4913/new12.jpg

Ok fair point, but the car presented today has got a totally different engine cover, no fuel cover, explain.Agerasia wrote:Why is everyone comparing the 09 launch car? Compare it to the end of season car then you'll see it's identicle.
MC is correct, the car shown at the track is a new car as the suspension is completely different from the R29 and the drivers cockpit has also been moved forward by a decent amount.manchild wrote:It is a new car.
