Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

If you look closely you can see a stream of flow viz oil comming out of it. i think thats there to put more flow viz oil on the lower surface as the car is moving. either that or the air interference caused by that thing just caused a trail.

you're right, i hadnt looked from the front... i doubt it will be there come barhain tho...

From Scarbs' Twitter page.
A couple of things ive noticed as well on that pic:

* Red Bull/STR style cooling vent next the drivers headrest for the electronics.
* Sharkrin slightly modified with what looks like cardboard (altho could be a reflection of something orange/red)
It's not cardboard. It's gold heat proofing for the centre pillar to stop the exhaust overheating it.

Hamilton posted times of 1.12 during a stint of 26 laps. Seems good!

He's now (with his 1.12.2..) 0.5 sec slower than fer but the fast time isn't important. It are the long stints that counts.

There was no trouble, and please De Jokke, this thread is no place to be gloating about possible Ferrari troubles...

No I'm not...you seem to be lost.

You're in an F1Technical.net thread about the MP4-25.

This is not a fanboi chit chat b0ll0x thread. Don't start Ferrari bashing here.

Scarbs: man or machine? Or myth? Either way, he's awesome.

From his twitter feed, confirmation of what several of us were wondering:
Scarbs wrote:Just to clarify: as Mclaren have effectively joined up the diffuser to the lower rear wing this is how big their diffuser outlet is

And his opinion of the arbox thang:

That makes a lot of sense. I thought that McLaren have actually brought their new diffusor to the tests. Hopefully by the time of the first race there will be several others with this interpretation. The Merc seems to be build similarly but issn't sporting the upper diffusor yet.

I'm just glad to see that all the added bits are nicely prepped and polished. A welcome change from last year, when it seemed like they had a crew in the back of the garage frantically making any part they could think up out of whatever scrap they could find.
