I don't think that Bernie has anything to worry at all. Ticket orders in Britain and Germany are going through the roof and the TV companies are rubbing their hands in anticipation of a season that is likely to beat all viewing figures they ever had. There is the prospect of a three way all champion battle to take the championship to the wire if we can believe in the bookies with some dark horses ready to step in if their Bull is masterly prepared for the charge.

Autoweek is making the same noises now, too. There's something to all this, whether USF1 is part of it or not. At least, someone is spreading the story around - everyone's got their own take...
Sources claim that Campos is behind with its payments to Italian chassis constructor Dallara, which has a deal believed to be worth e16 million ($22 million) a year to supply the team with cars and technology.

Sources also suggest that the situation has progressed to the stage where Dallara can now sell the F1 project, and that Stefan will buy the intellectual property. That would leave Campos without a car and free up its entry spot. Whether Stefan would make any use of the Dallara knowledge is unknown.

But I wouldn't be too hard on him for mixing up the Russians and Serbs. There's a sizable group of people here who still think of east Berlin as "Russian".
Like having Bavarians confused with Germans perhaps?

I think the FOM has the number of cars somewhere in the contracts with the tracks, regardless of the return of MS.

I see. So dispite having the TF110 Stefan would buy the Dallara project so that anyone else (like USF1) wouldn't be able to get it? Why not just buy the entry then?

Panda, i'm responding to that question in the appropriate thread.. follow me!

Someone in the US should ring Barber Raceway, pretending to be an Indy Lights team or something.. and ask them how far in advance must a 3-day track booking be made..

then we'll know whether USF1 can realistically still test there in February or even March.

The way I see things Campos has a car but no money, USF1 has no car, at least not ready, but Chad Hurley. Go figure.

The funny thing is that by the looks of things USF1 will be more of a Spanish team than Campos

Even more relevant to that post is that the design of the car will be unveiled Feb 12 on Racecar Engineering's website. I guess we have our launch date, then.

I usually learn more in that magazine every month then I do in the forums, but I can't discuss/debate with the magazine :)

I am amazed at how few people read them here, as half the time the hot topic of discussion is already discussed in detail.

A good example was everyone talking about the Williams Flywheel KERS. People were talking up and down about the speed it spins, how do the bearings stay lubricated, etc.

All neatly condensed and usually on point.

Racetech is also another good mag in the same vain.

Agree completely on Racecar Engineering -- just wish it focused more on F1 racecar engineering. Some of it is WAY beyond my meager tech background, but it's always a good read.Don't believe I've ever seen Racetech.

Whoops -- way OT. One thing can be said about USF1: they've proven (again) that there is great interest in seeing a (more or less) US F1 team. This thread is huge. If they have any sucess at all -- even if only in getting their sponsors the exposure they want -- then maybe other US groups will be encouraged to enter F1.

I'll help you: those idiots are using transverse gearbox. So stupid. How could they do it? They won't even make the third race. They are so dumb.
