about the jay leno vid:

great sound from the sls, especially when he lifts. he's a premier enthusiast, i wonder how he would have fared as a driver if he went in that direction.

jay mentions the short film rendezvous

(small screen, sure you can find better) obviously sound is fake, and '130 mph' is fake (unless the traffic he passes is going 110, not true), but still nice. i prefer the bmw short films from a few years back.
Best regards. I guess this explains why I'm not at my post!

I think I can hear some moron trying to make a sequel with his WRX STi nearly every night near where I live :)

Isn't this the race that the German race officials sure that a German badge would win,
claimed to not have a recording of "The March of the House of Savoy"
(at that time The Italian National Anthem)?
As legend goes Nuvolari happened to be carrying a phonograph
record of it in the car with him, :-"
Although it was probably found another way!

I really wish there was more footage of Nuvolari, from what ive read his driving style was something to behold.

One of the first super humans of motorsport.

Yes, that was the Grand Prix where he supposedly had a copy of the Italian national anthem on him, as a good luck charm or so the story goes.

The February issue of Motorsport Magazine has a wonderful piece on Nuvolari. I read it in the afternoon, which made me feel really nostalgic about many things, and ultimately led me to post that video.

And there's a lot of footage of him on youtube and general info on the web. All you have to do is search.

Nuvolari was really talented, but you must take into consideration that back then cars were horribly unreliable and unequalized, despite the 'attempt' at regulating them. "Luck" had a huge role in success or failure. Although in this case he was undoubtedly regarded as the best of his era, even by Achilles Varzi.

lol i don't mean to turn this into the Nuvolari thread, but its too good to resist.
After doctors put plaster casts on both legs he was told that it would be at least one month before he could walk again let alone race motorcycles. The next day he started the race having himself tied to his bike. He required his mechanics to hold him upright at the start of the race and to catch him at the end. The legend of Tazio Nuvolari began that day when he won the race.
