No offence but how do we know you're not just an Alonso fan trying to mislead people and/or having a laugh? I've been a longtime lurker on these boards, and of late information discussed on here has assumed a lot of importance across the internet. I wouldn't want people harboring false hopes.

There were a lot of rumouers during the car launch that the car we will see during free practices will not be the car they will be running @ Bahrein.
So it's not really new.

On the other side. Last year Brawn already did something like this mentioning they would gain a half a second with the Brawn with something radical but never saw something like that during the season.

Yes,I'm only doubting the '6 tenths' bit; that Mercedes have some updates planned has been common knowledge for a good two weeks now.

I'd be shocked if a state of the art diffusor/front wing/barge board package wouldn't bring at least 6 tenths. You have to keep in mind that the car was developed fo the 2010 solutions and not for the 2009 arts they have attached by now.

Ding Ding, finally someone who got it correctly, McL starting using it a couple years ago to change "torque"/engine maps, 1 interesting feature about how it was constructed as that the driver could change the engine map and the gear simultaneously while clicking only 1 lever, or it could be done independently.

It was introduced with the TC ban in order to help the drivers put the power down in low speed corners I believe.

It may have been for torque settings in the past but it may be for fuel settings this year, although changing the fuel settings with every gear shift seems quite silly, but that may be what they were doing with the "torque" maps... really you can only change fuel or timing to affect the torque output.

Its hard to read the W01, if its true the updates bring laptime expect them to be close to the front. Somehow the 0.6tenths bit i find a little OTT. ALl the teams wil bring updates to barcalona and we will find new updates in bahrain too so even if teams seem to be a 1+tenths off on ultimate pace all is not lost as most big teams bring new parts for the race (which they didn't have time to build for the last test session or USE the data from the last test session to perfect a update)

why is it always six tenth phrase :-k

i think the reason that last year they open their cards earlier were because they want to know the car potential since the new regs were applied and the merc engine which the chassis not designed to carry. this year, there are 2 probabilities for them.

1. they were very confident in their car for not testing their new updates earlier.
2. they were really in trouble.

the Barcelona update for MErc includes more than just a new front wing and diffusor.
There some changes to the rear bodywork around the gearbox and exhaust to correct the exhaust cracking problem they had during testing.

Also revisions to the sidepods but not sure what they are. Could be more undercutting or it could be intenal with a more optimised radiator positioning to help sort out mass distribution on the front tyres.

i seriously doubt you would be able to influence the mass distribution by shifting cooler cores a few inches so it has to be for different reasons .

Where did you get this info from?

The radiator cores are actually quite heavy.
Hence they are often positioned as close to the driver as possible. Remember you have upwards of 10-15kg of cooling fluid circulating through them.
Shifting that about has a marked effect on weight distribution.

Source I cannot disclose. Its not printed anywhere. Sorry but if I go naming the individual or the organisation they work for then I don't have a source anylonger, its that simple.
No, the person is not an PhD Engineer in ground vehicle aerodynamics and a well established F1 engineer, but a personal friend and an ex colleague.

They are going to move them more to the rear? I heard the brawn had to much weight to the front.

that's gonna be convoluted, isn't it?
