Opera or Firefox?

Opera 10.50 looks like it is going to be great and surely a huge improvement over the current 10.10 version, but it is still a pre-alpha release.
So, until it reaches the final release, I suggest Firefox 3.6, unless you don't mind experimenting a bit.

Is anyone else having this problem with Firefox 3.6 on youtube?



Every time I try to watch a video (or whatever click I make) it interrupts me with that warning suggesting to update to FF v3.6 even though I have already done so (you can see in the 'about' window on the right).

Youtube appears to think your using IE6, for which Google (who own youtube) has decided to terminate support.

A wild guess would be that it's using IE codecs to render h.264 video which is not supported by Firefox as it is a licensed format. But I'm just speculating...

Looks like Opera's newest version has unseated both my favs, Chome and Safari, from the top in java speed tests.

I've just been to Youtube and it's not showing for me. I'm on FF 3.6. Even tried it on Opera 10.50.

Chrome works fine

Better than fine. It has extensions now to. Makes Firefox feel like a walrus trying to run.

The ONLY thing I don't like about Chrome, is that you can't "print selection".

I should give Opera a blast. It was an awesome mobile browser before I had a smartphone with a real browser.

What is it? I almost never use IE, except for website testing purposes (i.e. to see exactly how crappy it shows in IE).

I even tried disabling all the addons in Firefox (or TitieCat according to MC). Didn't help either.

IE Tab is an extension/addon that allows you to run IE, therefore active X controls, in a tab in another browser.

This way you can do stuff like windows update within your existing browser, and even though you still need IE on your system for it to work.

I don't notice much difference between major browsers for casual use. However, there are HUGE benefits to using Firefox for daily web development tasks. Until the other guys give me something comparable to the Firebug/Web Developer Toolbar/IE Tab combination, I can't move away from Firefox.

SOLVED:

Ok, I have the solution:

1: Type about:config into the address bar press enter
2: click on the button if the warning message comes up
3: enter general.useragent into the filter
4: right click the line general.useragent.extra.firefox and press reset

that should clear out the megaupload crap and reset the version to 3.6

That means it is already reset to default value.

I've never got that update warning, and I was running on 3.58 up till few days back. However, before I've updated FF to 3.6 I've experienced problems with scrolling, loading of video etc. Now it works perfectly. No more crashing on flash sites etc.

Try this.

Go to:

http://www.macromedia.com/support/docum ... ger06.html and Delete all sites.

Also, make sure to delete all browsing history, cookies etc. Running a CCleaner's Registry integrity check might help. Fix all issues but make sure to backup it before. http://www.ccleaner.com/
