I don't think so.. But the nose looks longer, but it could be the perspective..

Car looks identical to me. Which is a worry given how far off the pace the car seemingly is. I was hoping for something that you could see and go "thats a nice touch".

The rear wing endplates are slightly different (straight in top photo, undercut in bottom one). Not what I'd call a major aero upgrade though...

These two different rear wings are not new. They ve been tested in Jerez and even in Valencia AFAIK

So by what we have seen today, in current guise Mercedes GP is definately slower than Williams? Or is williams playing light fuel loads like they did all of last season?

Given the tyre difference and fuel load difference which can be estimated and factored into things. I wonder how much faster this car is than last year's Brawn car

Williams doesn't look very good. The long runs weren't quick.
Hulkenberg had done his two best times in two 1-2 laps runs.

As its using some bits fro last years car I dont thin it would be a straightforward comparison.
Also as far as I know, Mercedes havent done super light quali laps like some others have.
In all no one can say for certain, we will just have to keep speculating!!!

I have to indulge in a totally unscientific observation here , it looks bulky and inefficient compared to it's predecessor...

The body piece by the exhaust seems to have changed. It is bigger to allow more hot air to come out in the top photo. You can actually see that it is a newly tested piece, since the paint job (two gray lines above the Petronas text terminate right before that piece in the top picture. In the bottom picture, they are continuing and the exhaust pipe is visible.

It would do, its using last years front wing and last years diffuser.

The High nose tends to lend it the bulky look, but if you look at the Merc ass, you will see it is anything but bulky, it has the smallest backside in F1(I think)

Yes indeed, I was referring to the nose section really. But yeah I'm quite surprised they are running last years diffuser still. I guess they felt the diffuser design was a solid concept that had a smaller margin for gain on their car than other teams, so it is less of a priority than for example weight distribution.
