Looks nice, but I would probably buy GT5 (when it comes out ).
Currently there is GT5 prologue (appetizer to GT5), which is pretty realistic, except they haven't modeled damage yet.
Now for something interesting, Nelson Piquet plays GT5p.
The PC has drivers outside of the game, so you can change the preferences for sure, even if not in the game.toto1041 wrote:after seeing the video of gameplay, the steering seems undriveable...again. I remember I abandoned these F1 games because the steering was unbelievably sensitive, and could not be tweaked in preferences. the slightest pressure left or right would send the car zooming over to the other side of the track completely, almost always ending in a unrecoverable tank-slapper. Looks pretty, but its a terrible sim.
Mr Dave, might I offer some humble advice:DaveKillens wrote:I purchased a PS3 a while back, so this new Codemasters F1 thing will become part of my collection. I just hope it delivers some semblance of realistic sim racing, and I can turn off the arcade stuff. I'll give it a go, and it it doesn't measure up to my expectations, it will wind up in the used games section of my local game software store.
I'm assembling a new computer, and will probably wind up in either iRacing, or rFactor2.
In the area of realistic sim racing, Codemasters has never delivered a game I could fully accept. You never know, they just may be able to please both the casual arcade driver, and the hard-core sim addict. Probably not, but hey, we have to give it a chance forst.
personally, I despise and hate to the nth degree that crap going on right now, where a person has to earn cards, or points, or some crap to progress to the next level. I just want to get in and race other people.
I'm calling shenangans! THAT would be frickin' awesome to play. One question though. Got a unibody MacBook with a 9600M, would it be worth it framerate-wise to have a take at iRacing and can you practice offline or is it online only?Giblet wrote:My old Xbox was modified with a chip, so you could load games on your upgraded HD. Since the game was never intended to be seen, you could explore the directories and the file names pretty much said what they were, no cryptic naming convention.
The game Project Gotham Racing 2 has .ini files for all the cars, and we would modify the numbers, and race each other online using an xbox live alternative. Who would think that PGR2 had a mod community?
If you want realistic racing, how does an 800mph TVR Tuscan sound, doing the Nurburgring in about 2 minutes?
We made some insane drift cars as well, putting the friction down to near zero and leaving the power up high.
Ah memories. Microsoft got smart with the 360. Still no outside code has been run on it.
Ah, those were the days when Geoff Crammond ruled.8ond wrote:I am so happy they're releasing a PC version for this one ... I remember playing the 1986 accolade on my old 286 ... then GP1 ... GP2 ... GP3 ... F12000 ... F12002 ... and then ... pause. Finally a PC game again!
Gutted, I just signed back up for another few months, after about a year off.Giblet wrote:For the record, I am unsure if rfactor2 supports eyefinity, but it should.
But iRacing does, and you need to at least try it out for a month. That hooked me line and sinker.
PM me if you do iRace, as there is a referral system that helps us both.
