Formula one onboard cameras

Does anybody knows something about cameras used for on-board images?
I'd like to know something about cleaning system used to clean lens from dust during car racing.

This is how I would think it works, but I dont know for sure. It seems pretty feasible anyway.

Its a clear plastic tube that rotates AROUND a camera (powered by a motor), with a squigee or scrubber behind the camera and secured to the casing. So the Clear tube simply rotates to clean its self.

I think there isn't any cleaning device used actually. Sometime you see an insect or dirt/rock hit the lens and block it slightly. Momentarily later you will see it slide off like its being cleaned off, but honestly i believe that its just the wind pushing the object off the lens. Personally i ride a sports bike so i am exposed to the wind at high speeds often and i can tell you that its really strong and i wouldn't be surprised the wind pushes the insects off especially at the speeds these cars reach.

It is not a tube they are using but a film visor. The visor is stored on a clean reel and whenever the lens gets contaminated by water, oil or insects they wind the tape/film forward onto a dirty reel to clear the view. This is the main reason why the camera housings are so large.

Ever used Rain-X?

It's quite amazing how well it works, especially when the car is at speed.

Not sure how long it would last if the car was going 200mph.
