As for the ballast placement ,one can clearly see just how much empty space there is inside the bellhousing where you could easily place ballast...
Surely there is no bellhousing? With no flywheel there is no need for a "bell shaped" connection between engine and gearbox. I really can't see much space available in the gearbox/engine connecting "flange" to place ballast

There is a bellhousing. It is to allow for the clutch and it has to join the engine block over a fairly wide base due to structural considerations, being part of the chassis. There is a small amount of space available inside for other parts in the design.

currently the diameter of a carbon clutch is 4inches...the drawing of an AP clutch states 138mm diameter and around 50mm in depth .As the bottom of the Gearbox/bell housing is not round there is definitely some space in this area in the bottom area, but admitedly the picture I found does indeed look like the bellhousing is tapering severly in the bottom area towards the back .
Considering the guesswork included when you have to decide on things like weight distribution AND building a new gearbox for 2010 it seems fair enough someone at least thought of making allowances to put ballast somewhere on the underside of the box .As it was stated more than once ,Brawn had no chance to test the new tyres and had (they did have Michelins before, did they?) no experience with the old Bridgestone rear tyre wich is reintroduced for this year so basically they ended up with something like Virgin did with their fueltank ,obviously a misjudgement on a different level but a misjudgement .
I would feel quite bad if I had supported or decided on this whatever the reason were and now having to redo something as elaborate as a new gearboxhousing.

Anyone has any pics of a f1 tub?
I would like to see the area, where the fuel cell is located and the engine mounting. There haven't been much threads here on tubs.
Depending on what % of the mass lies outside the tub, i think wheel base changes are as much as brawn will do. The ballast idea could work, but if the get desirable results with their new setup, ballast may be applied in the typical fashion.
For Sure!!

sorry, but I'm a bit lost here. Could you post pics so we can compare the two?

I had that already in mind but could find nothing with the same perspective yet.
sorry.
I still look for it and would post the comparison then.

I've seen these 4" clutchs "live" - awesome to think tjey can lock that hp without slipping - ISTR they are not bolted directly to the rear flange of the crank anymore but located inside the gearbox
Also , does anybody have a detailed pcture or drawing of a F1 CV joint ?

And lots of other cars. The design is pretty standard.

I guess i have no choice but to wait. There will be alot of pictures that will come out from this forum by then.
Good luck Mr. Schumi hope the car works for you this time. But he warns us guy not to expect too much. I am hoping he will improve with this car.
