Webber with bad qualy did not make a big impression on the season opener,Vettel yesterday not a threat to Hamilton.
Also in China the Red bulls seemed to loose their shine when not in front...it could be wrong impression..but?
This is exactly what I've been thinking and it seems I'm not the only one :) , Thanks Marcush =D> It seems when they haven't got the pole position or they are not at the front they can't improve their place like let's say what Mclaren and Hamilton did at Malaysia and China. This is something odd :wtf:

I imagine this is a massive packaging problem, however, as well as avoiding bad interactions with the rear suspension. Perhaps it is almost as much work as Red Bull had to do last year to fit the DDD?
The beauty of the "Blown Diffuser" on the RB6 is that no-one else has a hope in hell of copying it without building an entirely new car from scratch - the rear packaging of the RB6 including Pull-rod suspension is just so radically different to any other car out there!

Sweet pic! You can just begin to see the exhaust tract flowing into the diffuser area.

The RB has one of the lowest speeds on the straights, and that's why it cannot pass. With the revised Renault power plant (20-30hp) and the damn F duct passing will be like for everyone else, because by then they will all have F ducts and power will be very even.

The RB is fast because it wastes less aero energy than it's competitors.

We've known that since the car intro, where you can plainly see that the axles are pretty damn level, unlike last year's car, in which they were severely angled and caused them numerous bearing problems.

Great, so we will see a revised RB6 with no flaws :)

given that they have repositioned almost very suspension point anyways it would not have been a dramatic move to raise the diff only and leave the gear cluster as low as it was .(in deed they must have found a ways to get the input shaft back to whereit was after raising the box itself...
so in effect they opted for a lot of changes to create that room under the box...

and for the topspeeds...we now have ferrari and Macs at 310/312 and Merc /Redbull at 303 ....

So in effect 10kmh topspeed advantages is not really doing the overtaking for you in f1.

Yes, that is the sad part of it all .. as the year progresses the racing will get tighter and there will be less competitive passing. They really need to take this F Duct thing and make it driver adjustable for a time, much like the front wing flaps. I would even like to see .. wait for it .. a push to pass button that would raise the revs by 300 rpm for maybe 4-6 seconds a lap, in whichever gear a driver wants to use it.

Did you catch Nico following Hulkenburg around yesterday and the pit wall had to remind Nico to use the front wing flaps to stay close .. what a mistake on Nico's part ..

Anyways F1 needs some passing and sadly it seems the only way to get it is to build up the driver operated aids.

At least it made him angry enough to make it stick a few seconds later..

motivation is more than anything there..sticking in the gearbox of the opponent will slow you down not make the guy run into mistakes...he will not fall asleep.
maybe rearview mirrors should be banned....so youKNOW the guy in front can´t see you ,and you cannot control his activities.. that would spice up things .In MotoGP
or anything motorbikes you don´t have those mirrors.the blue flags for the lapped should be enough .

I don't know where people get these figures. The notion that Renault can pull out thirty horsepower just by changing some small narrowly defined parts and maybe the lubricants and other fluids they use in a homologated engine is nonsense. They are not that much down on power. We're talking horsepower in single figures if they're gaining anything.

Frankly, I cannot see any space whatsoever for an F-duct on the RB6. I cannot believe how thin that shark fin is. If they do anything they'll be looking at a blown wing, which doesn't seem to have had any effect whatsoever for Mercedes.

Re: Red Bull RB6

One thing I will say for the RB6 is that mechanically they seem to have made some huge improvements over last year. It rides any bumps in high speed corners as if they aren't there and it rides kerbs brilliantly unlike the RB5 last year. The traction of the car is noticeably good as well, both off the line and out of corners. I know people talk about Newey a lot but they have some people with excellent mechanical knowledge like Rob Marshall who was with Renault.

The RB6 does look as if its advantage will be at high downforce circuits but, if anything, the car might be better at Monaco where its lack of straight line speed versus other teams is going to have a miniscule effect.

I'm just starting to realize how special this Red Bull machine is. A work of art, really.

Tell me if I'm not the first to suggest this but Webber has said that the movable flaps on the front wing aren't very useful on the Red Bull, then after Vettel's get stuck, his brakes almost blow up. Is the primary purpose of the movable section on the RB6 to direct air away from the front brake ducts during appropriate sections of the track, making the car more aerodynamic?

Re: Red Bull RB6

When the cars had a venturi before the flat bottom plate there was a time the exhaust exited right in the venturi to augment it. The drivers found it very disconcerting as the downforce was engine revs dependent. The teams all(?) moved the exhaust away from the venturi.
I wonder what the effect is on this diffuser. Does the exhaust blow through the diffuser or does it blow across the gurney on the outside of the diffuser?

the concept is not new ,i think Galmer Indycar was the first to use it ...their exhaust formed the upper edge of the diffusser..and it worked quite well ..they say..

Mclaren (and Newey ;-)!) used an exhaust driven diffuser on the lovley, yet ticking timebomg MP4-15. The blue smoke was always appearing from their tunnels :p
