Wow WB, you sure do come out in defense of a fellow German don't you! Although I'm just envious because there aren't any Mexicans right now. Esteban Gutierrez anyone? :D

Sounds fishy. Vettel bagged fastest lap with it and they are taking it to Turkey as his spare chassis too. I assume if there really was an issue it must have been very minor. Surely it was not the reason for him being dominated by Webber two weeks in a row.
Vettel was pushing as he finally found a bit of balance in the car, while Webber was on "cruise to the flag" mode

I have been supporting Vettel from his very early days at Toro Rosso in 2007. He replaced the useless Scott Speed from Hungary for the last seven races. He put the inferior Toro Rosso in a soaked Chinese GP on P4 and made twice the points in less than half a season of Speed and Liuzzi together. Vettel is talented, fast and an all round nice guy who isn't spoiled by pampering or a lack of communication skills. Like Berger he is very much his own man, works without a manager but he comes from a very humble back ground. Unlike Michael Schumacher he is a lot more relaxed about his own mistakes and can get over them with humor. I like the way he verbally battles his team mate in the press conferences.

+1. But I started a little bit earlier when he was the Friday driver for BMW and started topping the times when he went out

I think he is ok, just that he takes losing too personal, kind of like a spoilt kid. As if it's not his fault the other guy can be faster at some points in the season. He needs a "is Vettel desperate?" thread.
He's a jovial kid, but i don't think he is a nice person when things don't go his way. Judging by how he screws his face when Webber does better than him.

He needs a manager though. He has the potential to be making the big commercial bucks like Lewis and Alonso. A manager is not just for contract and racing purposes. Vettel can be very wealth with a good manager.

He comes across a little too pampered by Horner in the team as well. That could be why the reality of Mark Webber opening a can of whoop ass on him hits him so hard in the post race interviews.
For Sure!!

I don't think any driver is out there to "have fun." Maybe some like Schumi, but then again he's got a cabinet full of trophies already anyways.

What he shows publicly is very different to what happens in the garage.

When i watched him working behind the scenes in the pit garage in Melbourne, he was incredibly demanding, serious & surprisingly intense with his mechanics & engineers. All of a sudden, everything you hear about what Schumacher is like, i saw it all in a youthful Vettel.
It was only 10minutes, but his intensity was what struck me the most and has left a lasting impression on me.

He's not overrated, he's just building experience.
Remember, Seb is only in his 3rd full season of F1 & a serious contender to win the WDC.. much like Schumacher, in his 3rd season, was.

It took Schumacher until his 18th race to win; it took Vettel 22 races for his first.

The similarities are striking. This guy has the potential to be the real deal; we're only seeing the beginnings.

Unlike Schumacher though, Vettel has entered F1 in a more competitive time where the top drivers are at their peaks. Michael entered F1 as the old guard left, and the new guard hadn't yet arrived.

+1 this is pretty much what I perceive in the guy

according to Webber his advantage this year is tyres. the 2010 Bridgestones suit him more than Vettel

Seb has clearly looked disappointed with himself at press conferences after losing out to Mark. I doubt very much he isn't taking this sport very seriously. After all, the pressure is starting to mount as it becomes clear to the general public that he's supposedly a wunderkind.

that clearly is a fabrication or misinformed reporting WB according to a chat Mark had with a motor sport journo mate of mine mid week - his expectations are to be hopefully in reach of the title come the last couple of races nothing more at this stage - way too early to predicate an outcome and no he doesnt percieve he has any advantage in any area - Mark like Vetell has the talent to get the job done lets wait and see how it pans out........................

I do not do fabrications! Please read my sources for yourself:

In an interview with German AMuS Webber explains (my translation).
Mark Webber wrote: The new generation of tyres suit my driving style better. Bridgestone modified the construction and the compounds during the winter. The front tyres don't bite as fiercely as they did last year. The rear tyre has more lateral stability. Sebastian prefers it the other way round.
That explanation sounds quite reasonable to me. Apart from that they are both great drivers and both have not capitalized as much as they should from sitting in the best 2010 car.

Btw, the tyre story is consistent with Massa, Vettel and Schumacher having their hands full to keep their team mates in check. It looks like Schumacher slowly comes to grip with the tyres but Massa only copes when he is on very soft tyres for the first rounds when they are still fresh.

It rests to be seen how Vettel gets on with it but tyres can be a decisive factor giving drivers confidence to unlock the potential of the car.

Don't forget Button too. We know Hamilton is one of those tail-happy drivers. And Button wants the car just planted, and it's probably also helped Button that the rear is more stable
