Watching some SPEEDtv.com technical photo gallery here:

http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/ ... al-review/

Watching all the bits in those pics, something that I have to point out is how much weight does all the "in excess" bolt length adds. Must be a thing to work and try in a series where all cars are basically the same and you can only fine tune this and that.

Also I have to point out the pic where a red front wing has a bolted gurney flap. Tape would be airflow smoother and lighter.

Hope there arent as many yellow flags as last year. every pit stop was under yellow last year... it takes alot away from the racing.

Would be interesting to see whose cars are in those pics. Some I am sure is mandated since the cars are spec cars. So parts are homologated and you have to use them. But fastners and stuff, I am sure you'll find a lot of differences between a Penske/Ganassi/Andretti car vs some randoms....

I remember back in FSAE days We trim all the bolts to stick only 2 full threads out, which is the rule requirement...not sure how much weight it saved, but judges like that, and it shows you have time to put thoughts to little details...

An I talian chassis with a Japanese badged British Engine, in an American series with a British/Malaysian sponsor and a Japanese driver... I love the mix :)

Where there was no mix was in the Indy 500 2010 podium: 3 Brits, with Dario Franchitti the winner:

Oh a small correction: I think Official results moved Marco Andretti to 3rd, so no more 3 Brits poduim. :D
Not that important at Indy unless you are racing the full IRL season...

Who builds Honda's engines then, Judd/Engine Development or Illmor? I actually thought it was Honda. Did they build their own F1 motors?

My horse came in 15th, Sheckter. At least he got up to 3rd at one point.

I was rooting for Sato as well.... it seemed like he may have been having a gearbox problem, maybe missing a gear or two because he was getting up to speed very slowly, but after a couple laps he was faster than anyone around him. He went backwards at every pit stop or yellow flag.

As with any spec series, the team wins the race, and it's tough for the small guys to race at big teams' level.
