Mclaren Mercedes MP4-25

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

According to the team members, one of the strengths of the R30 is its ability to absorb curbs and bumps very well... they said that many times... that car has an excellent mechanic grip.
But they were working on new suspensions since the beginning.

But that was funny misunderstanding ;)

Going back to topic, do you think, it is really a problem for McLaren to use stepper rear wing, if they can stall it effectively?

Does any one know what those carburetor looking things are sticking up? Have to say as well, that pipe work looks more complicated than people have been giving them credit for.

I remember months back, some posters were criticizing Mclaren putting testing instruments on the car; saying they were in a bind and grasping for straws because the car was another silver donkey. Boy were they wrong. Mclaren's in field tests are paying off big time now.
I was thinking exactly the same when I saw several teams struggling with f-duct in Turkey. Not only they have loads of data now for the blown wing, but they have also data for general airflow around car components, because they have all that measurments also without engaging the f-duct. I also agree, that because of this year's car design they loose their advantage riding the kerbs, and general mechanical grip. They are now concentrating more on the high speed stuff, so for example I think Hungary will be the hardest place for MP4-25 this year maybe.

EDIT : But from previous years we know that designing the car that's good on almost all tracks is indeed possible, so we'll see.

Running more wing on the rear of the 25 won't just help with the cornering, it'll be a great help under braking as the drag slows the car. Looking good for the Mac.

I'm not too sure what we're seeing in these pictures. At first, I thought we were seeing a device to blow the bottom element in addition to the top element, but now I look at it again, the parts forward of the wing are in different positions in each picture suggesting they were just resting there rather than "installed" as it were.

Does anyone have any further images, perhaps from FP1?

Anyone have photos of the front wing? I heard they have an especially sexy-looking new front wing
