right? i mean if they put half the energy into actually playing, rather than auditioning for hollywood, they might actually win something! :D

Being from the US, I'm not a big soccer fan. I don't have anything against it, but it's never on TV here and growing up with other American sports, I just enjoy them much more. Having said that, I've found myself watching various matches in the World Cup. Very cool to see the US advance. Hopefully they can make it past the next round as well.

And just one question I have, why don't they do away with ties in soccer games? They could maybe do a shootout type thing like the NHL does or just continue play. Just seems lame that so many games just end in a tie...or even worse a 0-0 tie.

they get away with ties because its only been the group matches so far and they get a point for a draw.

they continue playing/do penalty shootouts in the knockout stage which starts tommorrow (last 16) :D its bound to bring more drama to the game :)

I watched the highlights of Italy vs Slovenia and was really shocked by the attitude of the two Italian players who attacked the slowenian goalie.

The poor guy was trapped in the net like a fish and they attacked him there for a minute until finally one of the Slovenian players and the referee came to help him. Unbelievable.

Just to correct your statement, Italy was playing against Slovakia and not Slovenia, two difirent countries. Slovenia was also in the world cup
(group C) and went out when they lost against England and USA scored a goal in the last minute of there match. This was the only option for the Slovenian footbal players to go home and it happened :(

It is a common mistake to mix Slovenia with Slovakia or Slovakia with Slovenia.

PS: I am from Slovenia and am proud that our footbal team scored 4 points in the world cup, but sad that we went home when we were so close to move forward.

Sorry tomazy for the error. It was pure laziness that made me not check which team was playing the Italians.
