Renault R30

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

I think Helvetian is other name for Swiss (same is in my native language: Szwajcar = Helweta), so it's origin might be Switzerland. Also I just googled, that helvetica font was designed in Switzerland and is the biggest achievement of their typography.

For the first time R30 wasn't at top cars at speed traps in P1 and P2. EDD added more downforce and car has less max speed? Bigger drag? Or other teams are better with their implementations of F-duct?

More or less the same situation was in Turkey. In quali Robert was 13th on the speed trap. And in Turkey R30 didn't have the winglet above the beam wing and here in valencia R30 has this winglet, so of course it has an affect on max speed.

R30's new front wing looks like had been designed by Frank Gehry. It's the "Bilbao Guggenheim" of the front wings...

Hi all, newly registered but reading forum (this thread specially) since last year and I'm impressed with knowledge level I found here.

As I'm RK fan one sentence from Alan Permane makes me very happy.
The data was encouraging and it seems to be working as the wind tunnel and CFD predicted.
So I hope that their f-duct will also work in 'stage 1' as well as most updates in the future. IMO correlation of factory simulation and track results is a major factor in predicting the rest of the season. RF1 seems to be among the best in this terms.

Renault seems to work the front wing in a modular way this year ,it much looks like they alter certain aspects but keep others ,I got the feeling their front wing moulds are modular in construction so they can quickly change shapes in certain areas and produce new parts...instead of producing completely new moulds for every new iteration.

they're almost the same... 90% the same... they're maybe temporary.

They are downswept beyond their junction. Its just that you cannot see this from the angle of the photo.
