A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.
Now I understand; the metallic piece is not a flattened exhaust outlet or a connection but a kind of nozzle. The pipe is hidden behind the bodywork and the exhaust gazes are blown through that 'nozzle'. Original.

is this piece even open at the front and accerates the hot air exit flow from the radiators as well? difficult to tell, but these Renault guys are really inventive this year.. =D> =D>

That nozzle could act to spread the gases like a sheet over the tope of the diffuser, while at the same time behave like an ejector.
Nice little idea, i wonder if the metal nozzle will glow red in the race?
Kubica said after qualifications, they're not as fas as they could be, because there's an issue with their new solution, preventing them from taking full benefits out of it, but the team knows about it and is working really hard, to solve it. I also remember statement from some article, that they're going to use new floor only in the next four races. Do you have any idea, what could be that 'issue'?
@Neno: I would love to see it! But I hardly believe it, as I remember little to none overtaking in the last two races on this track.
I think that exhaust is hidden in the sidepod and that metallic bit is there to guide air exiting freely from there. You can see on some pictures, that it's not even connected to the sidepod and that there's no pipe going in there. Well, anyway, that's what I think Correct me, if I'm wrong.
