Red Bull RB6

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

Is in yellow oval a hole or it is just sun shining? Is it a part of DDD?
Thats the step down in the tub, where the drivers seat is placed.
Not really, it's the step in the floor mandated by the regulations to limit ground effect on the underbody.

Are you sure ? I dont see a double floor. The splitter is double, a la Rernault, but the the floor and the holes are very normal.

Everybody has the same layout except Renault (and maybe Mclaren)

Have a closer look at the RB; it 100% has a split floor. Like two floors, each floor feeding a diffuser!

More like a mini floor out the back. Most of the teams have it but it's not as big. The two ducts at the side of the front splitter are interesting though. Looks like my extra round theory goes out the window, the motion blur from the original pictures was giving the impression of large radius edges under the floor.

One thing you can definitely say though is that the diffuser entrance/mini floor is very long.

The mandated holes in the plank act as a very useful yardstick! The RB appears to extend to the second big hole, the others are between the two holes.

Thanks for finding such great pics, especially the Renault - you can see right through the DDD at that angle

the ddd entry is considerably wider than even the renault ,just look how norrow the flat passage between entry louvers and tyre is in comparison..
Red bull taken these rules really to the limit...

Bogi enhanced photo with bi-cubic rescaling (better than regular zooming).

could it be that they actually raised the floor a little so these hols could grab more air?

hmm, I am not sure that bicubic rescaling maintains the dimensional accuracy.
It does nothing for the perspective.

It's 2D scaling with pixel averaging in bicubic function. It doesn't change perspective at all. It gives better quality of zoom.

I think, than not only RBR pushed limits into DDD dimensions. Look at my try to change perspective of R30 floor. It has a big perspective errors but I think is good enough for compare.
